Last night I picked up a project hat off of Goodwill... Its a Stetson American Buffalo Collection hat. Figured Id see what the Buffalo wool hats were like and if nothing else use it as a cold weather knock around hat. It was listed as a 7-3/8 so im my kid brain I was figuring I could easily shrink it a half size to fit. I had put a low bid on it and then a couple days later they updated the ad with a couple more pictures....of course the new picture actually showed the size tag, and its actually a 7-5/8 ( Juuuuust a bit large). I was hoping someone else would dive in at the last minute and outbid me, but alas I was the only bidder... Oh well it was only $12.... Guess I need to either do some shrinking work or find someone with a bigger head...

Loved the color, condition, and perceived quality so took a chance on it. Turns out the size tag and bow were tucked under the sweatband and all the relevant information was there but not provided by the seller. :-(
Lot number is 7801 so I believe this is early 40’s hat. I’ll clean it up and find a new owner.

Here's a hat for sale on Facebook for $25. Not sure if it's a Stetson or if Stetson just renovated it. Depends on how you interpret the printing on the sweatband. Has about a 2 inch brim. Has anyone seen a sweatband with this kind of notation?

For those of you who like tall crowns and wide brims, here's your chance. I mean it is a woolfelt and a size is not given, but with a 13.75" crown and a brim that spans 19.5" in diameter, extending 6.75" at the front and 5.75" at the rear, who can resist the opportunity? Just scrape together the expected $4 miliion auction price in loose change and you're there.

They usually bring more:
I was about to toss in a bid when I checked the shipping.

That actually happened to me on the last auction I won. I got a great price on 5 Borsalino hats at an auction house that I was able to have my sister-in-law do the pick up at. With shipping it would never have been worth it.

I don’t have a Nutria Quality in my size and the sweatband issues didn’t worry me.

I always enjoy seeing how auction houses interpret the ‘X’s. Usually it’s as a size. This is the first one I’ve seen that uses math.
