With all the talk we regularly have about leather jackets being protective and "armour", I wondered how many of us actually need leather because we ride motorcycles, and what people ride.

No shade if you don't, obv, because leather is cool whatever. But anyway.

I do ride, and currently have an old Triumph Bonneville and a newer KTM RC 390.

I should say, I would wear leather jackets even if I didn't ride this

Enjoy your posts as I sit here in the dead of Atlantic Canadian winter
I hear you Sir.
One of my main reasons, over 30 years ago, for settling in Western Australia was year round riding.
As long as it's forecast dry.
Heaviest rain I have personally seen , and I have travelled the world 40+ years ago, was a sub cyclonic dump (post northern cyclone) across the metro area. Massive flooding.
We live at tje top of a hill. My swimming.pool filled to overfull in a few minutes then ran thru my garage and down the street !
I have also experienced a mega hail event in 2009, on an otherwise sunny day.
Thankfully I was not riding either of those days ? Some poor folks were !
