Have you ever wondered what a hat would look like if it didn't have a sweat band and you wore it for all your chores in the humid Ohio summers? Well, this it what it looks like. This Open Road, or Open Road clone, as it never had a sweat band or information that would have told me what it was, Is not pretty to look at. In fact, my wife wants it gone. But I have to tell you, it's just the hat to wear for outdoor chores when you don't care what happens to your hat, or how you look in it. Even moths stay away from it!

Recently, I purchased a Mallory by Stetson Open Road/Dallas at a second hand store. So I'm considering letting this one go. And if there's no one interested in it, say for a Civil War civilian re-enactment or such, I'll keep wearing it, and ignore my wife's eye rolls.

Meh. That'll buff right out.
Indeed.
Same, all I could think was a good bath with some mild detergent or a long bath in naptha and some scrubbing with a brush and throw a sweatband back in there and you've probably got years of use left in it!
If I put a sweatband in there, it'll be too small. I've already stretched it enough. But I like the idea of a bath of some sort. I'll look into doing that properly. Tnx!

Keep it! It’s a classic.
