Hi all,

I’m looking to replace the Real McCoy’s Buco J-24L I recently sold after owning it for about 12 years.

Mine was an older-fit size 40, purchased from Japan in 2014 before these were widely available in the U.S. It was always a bit too tight on me and really only worked as a T-shirt jacket, but I loved the style, especially the western back on the J-24L.

I’m now looking for something with a little more room. Ideally, I’d like to find an old-fit J-24L in size 42 with the mouton collar, but I’m also open to a 2018-fit size 42 or a newer-fit size 40 if the measurements are right.

The range I’m looking for is roughly:

Pit to pit: 20.5–21.5”
Waist/hem: 19–20”

A mouton collar would be strongly preferred, but I’m open to hearing about anything close.

If you have one you’re thinking of selling, please send me a message.

Thanks!

P.S. I’ve attached a few photos of the one I sold since I know they may be appreciated here.

Oh brother... what a beautiful patina that jacket has developed. I'm sorry to hear you have to part with a 12-year relationship! Personally, I'd keep it and pass it down to my boys to wear and enjoy—although they'd probably just look at it and say, "Why are you giving us this old jacket?" :)

Seriously though, I hope you find exactly what you're looking for. I can also tell you that the J-22 in a size 40 is definitely more forgiving overall than the J-24. So if one happens to come along, it might be worth considering. Best of luck with the search, my friend!

I hope you find what you're looking for. Just wondering, how often did you wear the one you had for 12 years, for it to get patina like that? Did you ride a motorcycle with it?

No bike, just a lot of normal wear over the years. I didn’t wear it every day, but it got plenty of use, mostly in the spring and fall, running errands, around town, out at night, that sort of thing.

It definitely took a few years to really break in. For a while it still had a very smooth, crisp, almost new-looking finish. But 12 years adds up, even without motorcycle use.

It is nice to put your own touch on a jacket. I do really like the browned-out, worn-in look, so I’m hoping the next one I find already has some wear on it and then I can add more of my own.

For those that may be interested in giving an opinion, this is the one I am considering:

https://ebay.io/m/mb67y0

With this I’d need to order a new mouton collar from RMC in size 40. I’ve read that that fits well in the old model.

Anyone care to weigh in?

I don’t see any others for sale anywhere else at the moment.
