I'll go ahead and post mine here...

although it's already posted in other threads. This one is different from any of the others I've seen on the lounge thus far:

Royal Stetson Leghorn:

I found an ad for this hat in a June 1952 edition of Esquire magazine, but obviously it could have been made before or after that date.

oh yes, it's a long oval too:

sweatband measures appx. 1 7/8 inches

EDIT: after reading through this thread and seeing another Long Oval hat size tag with the price on it, I looked at mine and found that it says "$10.00" on the size tag as well.
I would like to hear where you guys would date it
thanks

What are the dates for Stetsons with the clear (now yellow) cover over the middle/center of the liner? I can post a photo if needed. Thanks!

If it is oil silk then it is late 40's to early 50's. If it is clear plastic that has just yellowed I would place it mid-fifties. Imperial was very a good line.

It looks like oil silk to me, and I concur with carouselvic's assessment of late 40's to early 50's -- particularly in light of the style of the size tag, which matches a Stetson I have dating to 1948.

As the Vita-felt process has been dated very specifically to the early 40s I thought that posting details of my Homburg might assist in this thread.

Enjoy.

I've always thought the black size tag was later, like mid to late 50's, with the plain yellow size tag like Levallois' above to be 40's to early 50's. I have a 3X Open Road & a Royal Stetson Stratoliner with the yellow size tag. IMBM...

Vic once pointed out to me that the long oval tags from the same era are often white/cream.

I also have the same tag as yours, on a Stetson that the consensus of forum members dates as being early '40s.

This is my U.S. Wildlife Service Stetson. During what period did Stetson use this kind of liner? My best friend in high school wore an Open Road (the first OR I ever saw), and I think I recall his hat having such a liner...but I'm not 100% sure. We graduated in seventy-four, so his hat would have been from the late sixties or very early seventies.

Thanks for all opinions!

Atticus -- I tend to think of that liner as being associated with post-Stetson Stetsons. In other words, probably a liner found in post-1970 Stetsons that were manufactured by Stevens. The liner design is a painted version of the "Last Drop from his Stetson" -- a design that was actually embroidered in vintage Stetson liners.

Cheers,
JtL

1950's Canadian silver lining

This one has silver instead of gold. It's from Canada, and from the story I got on the owner's uncle, it was most likely purchased in the late '50s or early '60s. Hat was a wreck, thus picture of salvaged parts.
