Is it the photo, or are they also larger than the S and H behind them?

The bowler I just purchased looks to be mid to late '60s, judging by the brim width (43mm/1.692") and crown height (117.47mm/4.625"). Those initials have probably been out of production for nearly that long. Oh, well, even with someone else's initials it's a very cool hat. Moss Bros. branded...

I just acquired a new bowler and inside on the sweatband are three metal initials. Does anyone know if these are still available? While the ones that are in there are cool, I'd love to replace them with my initials. Here's a photo.

Here I am with mine. This didn't have the strap, but does have the narrower brim, ribbon and I'm presuming a shallower crown. If you compare it to the bowler that Alex is wearing in my avatar, which is also an equestrian bowler, you can see the differences.

As a collector of bowlers, I've always wondered if there were stylistic differences between male and female models of equestrian bowlers. The most obvious one is the elastic "bun" strap toward the back of the hat that women used to pull over their hair when they've tied it in a bun. But...

I'm trying to post a photo of my latest bowler and the uploader flags the image with an exclamation point inside a red circle and there seems to be no way to go any further. What am I doing wrong? Anybody?

I'm looking to have a hat made to resemble the style of fedoras that were popular in the late 20s. The brim was around 2.25" and the crown was tall. And the crown only has a center dent and no pinching. Looks almost like a homburg with a snap brim. If anyone can post pictures of that style I...

I was curious as to what you used to steam the brim and how much steaming you used. In other words was it just enough to move it and then you let it set again? And how long before it was completely hard again?

Did they have to shape it for you at all? Most hats are made for a "long oval," where as I'm more of a "regular oval."

Well, it's good that you received the nicer looking one. I just wish they would go back to the silk grosgrain. How much more expensive can it be? And it would allow the proper shackling of the brims. And thanks for the compliment on the Alex photo. That's the bowler I want. Whatever it is.

Christy's Nice looking bowler. I suspect this is the one they call the "Devon," which I believe is their equestrian model. Their town model has that ugly stitching and what I call the Homburg curl, which is totally wrong. For some reason the riding bowlers still retain most of the vintage...

Does anyone know the chronology of brim widths for Dunn & Co. Bowlers? I suspect they tended to follow the widths of ties and lapels, but that's only a theory. I'm asking because I'm trying to ascertain the era in which the bowler Malcolm McDowell wore in "A Clockwork Orange" was produced...
