    Barbour Border

Been wanting to try one of these for a while but I always balked at dropping the coin for a new one. I started looking on Ebay and found a nice, gently used example for about a quarter of the price of a new one. As a bonus it came with the pile liner that costs about a hundred bucks new...

Do you hunt in your Barbour

Very interesting thread as I have been contemplating the purchase of a Barbour for some time and wondered about the real-world qualities of the waxed jackets in the field. Although I don't hunt as much anymore it is still good to know the opinions of those who have used the coats as they were...

    Safari Express rifle pic thread

What a great thread. Haven't been to FL in a while, but this one certainly got my attention. I particularly like that 7x57 of DG's as I am a fan of the nicer G&H '03 sporters anyway.

Link for the new VLJ ??

Hey, can somebody post a link to the new VLJ flight jackets board? I'm registered over there, but my laptop is having major issues and so I'm having to use my wife's computer and can't access my bookmarks. Thanks in advance.

    "D-Day" by Stephen E. Ambrose

Right you are, must have been in quite a hurry to have made that simple mistake. Thanks for the correction...although we mustn't forget the paratroops from 7th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment who arrived to reinforce Major Howard's glider-borne troops and held off the brunt of the German...

IRVIN NUTS?...the ULTIMATE thread for those who love 'em!

Thanks, I suspected as much. The Irvins do seem to have been very well made of excellent materials.

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

There are so many I am in love with...both in the looks and performance department and history. The Spitfire of course, that's a breathtaking craft. The P38 Lightning has always looked quite fetching and exotic to me as well, and its L configuration was hard to beat. I also love the classic...

    "D-Day" by Stephen E. Ambrose

"D-Day" was the first Stephen Ambrose book I read after it was first published and the author was becoming well known and doing TV interviews for the fiftieth anniversary of D-Day. I think overall it is very good, very well written, and captures the "drama" of the moment better perhaps than...

IRVIN NUTS?...the ULTIMATE thread for those who love 'em!

Aswatland, Interesting your comment regarding the durability and longevity of the Irvins versus the US sheepskin. I've noticed the same thing and not knowing much about them wondered why? Were the Irvins made with a different and/or better quality sheepskin or what is the explanation...

    Members in Uniform

Wonderful jackets, simply amazing. I commented on VLJ but just had to say that Dubow is one of the nicest I've seen. Just worn in and "beat up" enough to be PERFECT. ;)

Early War Birds or Late War Birds?

I would have to say that the early warbirds are especially interesting to me also. The only late ones I am really fascinated by are the P51Ds and the B29s...both are supremely beautiful and high performance late war aircraft that just appeal to me for some reason. As a general rule...

WWII Khaki Trousers - Originals and Reproductions

Well, I just got a pair on ebay and I hope they turn out to be good. They are button fly army khakis, probably 50's vintage and were listed as un-used. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they were worth the fifteen bucks they cost. ;)

    U.S. airman remains return home

Thanks for posting that. Another WWII airman's remains from my home state were found in China last year and brought home for burial.
