Montecristi hats are the elite of the straw hats is true that there are good cuenca hats out there But a well woven Montecristi is always going to be better Is like comparing gold and silver

Of course a Montecristi hat is far more better than cuenca hat I bought a Montecristi short brim fedora from panama hat direct is a super fino (15x15wpsi) I am satisfied with it

It is 58 cm the sizing is ok The other panama hat that i own is a from modesto hats in Ecuador that i truly recommend for its quality and consistent weave

That not a panana hat (100%toquilla) The weave is very diferent It might be shantung or toyo that are in esence another type of paper Remember nothing good comes from china in terms of quality

Does anyone know what happened with modesto hats ?? It was a very good store of Montecristi hats but now i can’t find their website They even remove their Facebook acount

I have bought one Montecristi from modesto hats and I have to say that i am very pleased with the quality ,the weaving is good and consistent the sweatband is made of leather but i don’t know if they have the long oval that you are looking for
