    Dating rings/jewelry

Just based on the styling of the setting, the ring with the purple gem looks 30s to me, but I might place the other ring a little earlier in the 20s because of the very geometric shapes. Disclaimer: I'm no expert. A formal appraisal would tell you a great deal more.

    Dating rings/jewelry

Could you provide pictures of the backs of the settings, under the stones, and of any markings inside the bands?

Does anyone know what this item is? Or the era?

Do both sides open into small bags? If so, you may wish to do some research into variations of what were called "miser's purses". I've never seen one that was netted through the center, rather than solid knit, but that means very little and the shape is nearly identical from what I can tell.

Hair refuses to hold curl even after

My curls used to fall out as soon as I brushed my hair, the trick for me was finding the right setting lotion. I use Aveda's flax seed and aloe gel full strength on a wet set with pretty much any type of rollers or curls with great results (as long as my hair is completely dry, of course). You...

Brushing Out Pincurls (For Long Hair)?

Aveda makes two different types of pomade, which one you'll have the best results with will depend on your hair type. Any Aveda salon can suggest and sell the best one for you, and they both smell great

    Ladies show us your best.

I usually wear a vintage camisole or slip under sheer blouses or dresses. Target carries camisoles that are a good approximation, usually in beige and black. I avoid wearing anything too tight because it doesn't give me the look I like.

New in town and seeking a stylist...

I searched but didn't find much - I'm new in town (Philadelphia, now), and have had terrible luck finding a new stylist with any sense of a vintage cut. I'm looking for a place that will give me a good cut that styles well vintage or modern, in an edgy color. If any of you Philly ladies can...

The Speakeasy in Philadelphia's Divine Lorraine Hotel

Just got back on the boards after ages away... Can't tell you how many times I've driven by this building since moving to Philly and lamented its time worn state. Here's hoping they return it to its former glory!

    Etiquette question

What about a sarong dress in a hawaiian print and espadrilles? I like C-Dot's idea of a large sun hat, too :)

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Ditto for being annoyed with myself for missing these... they're pretty much exactly what I've been looking for all summer! Love the style, and I've been desperate for white shoes! I found them at Amazon.com, but I'm sure a Google search will turn up more.

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

No worries... don't feel silly. Had I not been shoe shopping this past weekend, I'd have never been able to pull that word out of my mental banks. I actually just picked up these... super super comfy :) Poke around the website some... they have some nice vintage-able shoes, and they're well...

They look more like huaraches to me... I've seen a couple pics with those type of shoes, and they're pretty easy to find in the stores this year.

    Terror attack in Oslo, Norway

Thoughts and prayers to the Norwegian people and all who hold them dear. I'll never be able to comprehend such violence and hatred.

What's on Top - Bras, panties, garter belts, slips, & stockings

The only fibers you shouldn't use Oxyclean on are protein fibers like wool and silk. Given the date of the bra, I think you're safe :)
