    Need hat advice

Also depending on your head size and what you want to look for, vintage shopping on Ebay is a good pastime. To help you find vintage fedoras make sure to check the boxes for pre-owned (you don't want to buy a new hat on Ebay. and enter your real size (not S M L) that will weed out most of the...

    Need hat advice

Fur Felt is the best material. Wool just doesn't make a very durable soft hat. If you want an Indy hat the Akubra federation is a good mid level option. Better than the cheap ones but not as nice as custom. Akubra also offers other fedora styles and I am sure others will chime in with other good...

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Well I had exciting news today. My first hat block arrived. I have always been interested in making all the items of clothing that I wear, and hats are no exception. I had previously contacted Winchester felt and they sent a few sample felt bodies out to me so I had a nice charcoal grey...

    I need a pair of Breeks/Plus Twos/Plus Fours/Knickers?

I wear plus fours almost every day. I made my own and I used a few tweeds and corduroys. The garter ties are great, they aren't overkill and are pretty much necessary. I wear kilts as well so I have a collection of hose and garters. I get mine from New House Highland which is the NA distributor...

    movie hats that inspired you...

Not a movie per se. but I found the hats in Foyle's war a bit of inspiration. Foyle (the main character) has a narrow ribbon sloped crown fedora that is a charcoal grey color it often appears a little green.

    The School of Hard Knox

hi hathead, I wondered if you were on this forum. I bought a Stetson and a Portis from you as well. I really like the fawn colored Stetson it's my favorite hat so far, the Knox is nice but probably won't get as much wear.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I scored 4 hats on EBAY last week. First a grey Knox 20 Then a black Stetson Sovereign And finally a lovely fawn Royal Stetson with a bound brim.

    The School of Hard Knox

I got a Knox 20 on EBAY. Can anyone date it for me? It has a lovely felted edge but the brim is a little stingy for my taste.

    Introduction

Hello thought I should introduce myself. I have had a somewhat interesting route to where I am now sartorially. I have always loved history and growing up home-schooled I was able to read and study it more in general. I learned to sew and make my own costumes at the age of 8 and eventually...
