    Fur felt production

I agree with that! I assume that FEPSA and Tonak have their own, internal, CIP. I just have to think that long term costs would be less. Especially since the supply chain already exists.

    Fur felt production

This one isn't mine. I was looking for a scientific explanation of why mercury was better at carotting fur. I dabble in hatting, and I have a felt from the 20's (anecdotal. I do know it's old and "different") and the felt is just "nicer", denser. That led me to the post above. It's a shame that...

    Fur felt production

I didn't know this thread existed. I thought this was interesting and wanted to share: To identify a better solution than hydrogen peroxide for carroting fur in hat-making, we need an alternative that effectively prepares fur for felting—enhancing its ability to mat together—while being safer...

I'll call this the "feed side." As long as the flat faces away, the thread seats in the blood grove and the loop forms in the correct side every time.

The top stitch needles have a larger eye for thicker thread (think yellow thread on a pair of jeans). I have found that they work better with the speedy stitcher. I also removed (and then replaced) one of the metal disks so I could wind a bobbin on my machine and put the whole bobbin in the...

I had the same issue. I flipped the needle 180 and switched to top stitch needles (larger eye). Works a treat.

Interesting. That gives me an idea of what the hat would look like open. Thank you. I might give an Optimo a try using a blocking cord and a #52.

The above images are from a book stamped 1920. Has anyone seen a #57 hat block? Were they used before sculpted hat blocks became common?

Looks really good. How's that new rounding jack working out?

I see that in the little folds I get. I tried small cuts, which was a disaster. I'll keep digging. Thank you again. You are a wealth of knowledge.

I was afraid of that. Thank you for the information.

I think I understand that these are used for a pencil curl, but are these also used to get an even welt? I cannot do it well to save my own life.
