I like how the Airforce stencil faded with the dry cleaning...makes it look like a battle worn original. HPA literature says it will completely go away with each dry cleaning and will need to be re-applied, glad to see it actually just fades. I recently bought a Buzz Ricksons N3 parka that has...
Sorry to mix up the names of the service, at least I didn't have "Royal" in there right? Actually I work for an executive jet manufacturer (the aircraft parked next to your hangar down the street at HKBAC), I'm originally from Malaysian Borneo but immigrated to the States in 83 when I was 17...
Ah yes...I've been wanting to share the story of my first repro. I recently finally took the plunge and got my ELC A2 Pearl Harbor and as much as I love that jacket, I will always have a soft spot for my first; an Avirex A2 I bought at the Cockpit store in Beverly Hills California back in 1985...
Thanks Andrew, I remember reading that thread when I was in my research phase. Yes, I am aware the red or rust knits are accurate, I've seen real jackets in museums that were that exact color, but I personally prefer them to match the leather, or at least in the same color/tonal range. I think...
Actually I just re-read the originating thread and noticed he also mentioned the time-worn version in addition to the PH and .50CAL...duh! I must admit I did not look into this version and apologize for totally ignoring this part of the question! Will have to do more research now!
I've done some researching on their website since I was having to decide between these two very products. Actually they are completely different. The Pearl Harbor is more broken in and scuffed, the leather is actually "broken" while the .50CAL is more subtle and its effect more generalized...
Well, after 10 very long weeks, it finally arrived. It took especially long for me because I received and returned a sizing jacket first, then they ordered it from England where it had to be made, then received it and had to forward it to me here in Hong Kong so it's been an epic process...
Agreed, I wish I could see the product and try it on before purchasing. I think this applies to all clothing, shoes, belts etc for sizing and fit but in the case of leather jackets, the look and feel. Although by HPA's sending the sizing jacket to me, I did find out I did not like the all new...
Yes, sorry to go off topic, but still it highlights my point about the look of weathering versus brand new so maybe its OK.:D
Yes you are correct, the armored vehicles are 1/35 while the helos are 1/18.
Here is my helicopter collection. These are mostly pre-built models that you assemble but I weathered the paint and equipment and also added painted details.
