I like Rush, the band itself and the music. Doesnt matter to me how many male or female fans they have. I also like the Vanson jacket - I would wear it, with or without Rush banner on it.

In Germany we have "normal" Shopping Malls for clothing which sell mainstream leather jackets from Diesel or others in a price range of 800-1500 Euros = 1000-2000$. And these jackets have thin leather, not comparable to any Horsehide thick Steerhide.

Are you sure that this depends on chrome or vegetable tanning? I would assume that one of the leather is aniline hide which means natural without waterproof finish, and the other one is pigmented leather - which has a waterproof finish. Because you an also have vegetable-tanned-pigmented...

I do not know any italian manufactures like Aero or so, but i know that there are some very good leather tanneries which produce the famous italian horsehide.

I have a B-15 bomber jacket from The Cockpit. It has a massive YKK 10 Heavy Duty Zipper. The second best zipper i have seen to date (best was a RiRi Zipper from Switzerland). The leather is thick cow or steerhide, around 1.4mm(3 1/2oz). Heavy jacket to hold in the hands, but comfortable to wear...

Here in Germany we have them a lot, and they are priced higher than normal but when it comes to leather with inferior quality. I had one Boss leather belt which disappointed me, the leather lasted only 2 years. Some other people in Germany wear Hugo Boss only to brag...

Has your friend any experience in wearing the Messerschmitt Jacket in bad weather? Like storm, heavy rain, snowfall? Because this is normally not a good idea with aniline leathers.

No they are not identical. The Original-Flightjacket Messerschmitt is guaranteed hand-made in small german leather manufacture and the almost all materials are from Germany too. Well, my first post here, after some time only reading silently. Maybe I can help clarify some things here. Is that jacket a pure aniline one? Because if it is pure aniline leather, even if it is strong horsehide, it would not be water resistent. There are some very expensive aniline jackets...
