    Borsalino Question for the experts

Yes, my current favorite 7 1/4 Borsalino was about $250 also, if I remember right. Also probably '50s. I've been pounding the pavement a long time and have a few lucky finds from the '80s and '90s stacked up that I hardly wear, so don't really need any more hats. But I do like to look...

    Borsalino Question for the experts

You'd feel constrained not to wear it. Good point. I can definitely understand that. But a nice '40s Borsalino is already pretty expensive, and the Warner Brothers label has got to goose the value up quite a bit, even if the hat did not belong to one of the MOST FAMOUS MOVIE STARS OF ALL TIME...

    Borsalino Question for the experts

From my limited knowledge, the hat seems roughly period correct (tall sweatband, ventilated front, etc.), but the auction house was not sticking its neck out. I would have thought Bogey had a bigger head than a size 7, but I see posters on this site saying that was indeed his size, so -- oops. I...

Hey I'm the lucky new owner of this beauty. Thanks very much! It's great to find an honest-to-goodness wide-crowned '30s hat.

    '50s Borsalino 'Gorasgu' Fedora, Brown, 7 3/8

Bound-edge brim about 2 1/4 inch, unreeded sweatband with corrugated front section. Chocolate brown color 'Folco'. Felt is in great condition with no damage. The sweatband is torn at the back next to the seam, and there are a couple of spots where the stitching has popped out. The wide ribbon...

What hat are you waiting for today?

I was the underbidder on that hat and I'm very jealous. I went a little higher on a Stetson that looked like it had a taller crown, thinking it would be better, but it has arrived, and while I like it okay, its crown is not that high. You definitely got the better one.

    Robert Oppenheimer's Stetson at auction

I'm a bad history geek, cause I'd just want the hat to wear, not for its significance. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/10322190

Belstaff Trialmaster waxed motorcycle jacket, Driza-Bone made

Thanks for the message. Alaskan7 did buy the jacket, and he should have it how or it should be arriving soon. As glad as I am that it found an appreciative home, I don't think Alaskan7 will mind my saying that I wish I'd have been able to take advantage of your offer! A Driza-Bone Trialmaster...

Belstaff Trialmaster waxed motorcycle jacket, Driza-Bone made

Not sure how common they are. Possibly more often found in Australia, where Driza-Bone had the arrangement with Belstaff to make the Trialmaster. The two companies were apparently under common ownership at one time, before Belstaff became Italian.

Belstaff Trialmaster waxed motorcycle jacket, Driza-Bone made

Vintage Belstaff Trialmaster, made in Australia by its sister company, Driza-Bone. Heavy waxed cotton, black. Corduroy collar and cuffs. Belted. Cotton lining. Footballs under arms with ventilated grommets. Diamond quilted padding at shoulders and elbows. I like it better than the modern...
