hi everyone. i make and sell snoods in my etsy store. i'm mamagnome on etsy. i also sell turban-ish head wraps.

i'm growing my hair out currently and i'm still not able to fill one of my snoods. maybe someday.

I am crocheting some for this winter, hope I will end one (black alpaca with silver threads) by the week-end...
Snoods are very helpfull for my hips-long hair. I can manage a very vintage hairdo in no time (hurry mornings don't like sophisticated updos). It is also a good way to keep my lenghts unbraid/unattached/uncliped while my work requires a neat hairdo.

It's a bit out of season, soon, but Renaissance festivals are usually great places to get snoods, mostly crocheted ones. If you do look online, try googling "renaissance snoods" or "medieval snoods". All kinds of lengths and usually reasonably priced, especially if they have Scottish/Irish style dresses.

I just had to say- I have just bought two bun/mini snoods and I LOVE them :D you know, not the kind that go over most of your head but they just cover a small part of your hair at the back.

Both of them have barrettes attached, one has a big cream satin bow with a white net, the other has two big black flowers with pearl centers and a black net. Finally I have an elegant solution to bad hair days/ winter weather, I don't know whether they are authentically 1940s but I think they look a bit more elegant than my usual bandana/headscarf updos. Plus it doesn't necessitate setting my hair, so if I know we're going to have a long spell of bad weather I know not to bother- snoods to the rescue :D

Plus, I have a spare black net, and instead of just throwing it away I attached it to a giant red rose corsage/ hairpin, so now I have three! I'm especially pleased, cause I always want to wear the rose, but it looks too big when I pin it to the side of my head.

I am excited, in case you can't tell :p

They sound cute. You should post pics of you wearing them. I just lobbed about 6 inches from my hair and now I'm not sure I have enough to fill my snood (which I still haven't tried to use and it's been months).

Thank you! I feel a bit apprehensive at posting pics of myself on the internet, for various reasons, but I could post a picture of the snoods if you really want? And you should go for one (or two...or three :D)! I have a feeling I'll be wearing mine most of the time now, seeing as they are practical, elegant and fairly weatherproof :)
