Easy haircut- can I go "unvintage"?

Ladies, I know I'm most sneaking a round and not comment, I still hope you want to help...

I have done pincurls for years and years and last year I cut it because I not longer had the interest and time. It looks like this but withoute the bang plus i have a sideburn (mabey I should just write that it is cut in the same length )


Now I want to grow my hair and still want an easy hair that looks cool and still can go vintage at somme times... It reaches down to my sholders and I hate the look of it as is, it really needs styling every morning (again!)

What are your thoughts? Is there anny one else that have got a different (unstyled) haircut and still look vintage?

You've got a real yen for asymmetric cuts! They look great - very edgy, especially multi-coloured.

Are you going to go that extreme with your cut? If you are, then I wonder how well you can adapt it into a vintage look. It's important to note that there is no real vintage "cut" - For vintage hair its all about the style, whereas modern hair, especially the looks you have shown here, are all cut, no style (save for some serious flatiron use). However, if your cut is going to be more toned down, as in not as large a variation in lengths, then you can probably get away with the pin-curl style in the last picture. I would mull it over with your hairdresser.

Yes, I have a "thing" for the extreme The thing is that my hair is thick and heavy as a horsetail and just cut it straight wont look good on me untill it is below the middle of my back I have tryed the "classic" layerd cuts like the middy but totally unstyled it looks as I'm back in the 80's! (not good!)
My thought was to be able to have a hair that did'nt need styling every day...
Theese cuts also seems to be layerd from the inside mostly, mabey that will make it easyer to handle as it otherwise will stand rigth out from my head?
Have you got anny other sugestions on nice looking unstyled haircuts? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Ok so looking at the first blonde picture you posted, its EXTREMELY layered and razored. It looks cool but you will definitely not be able to achieve the same look as the last picture you posted with the pincurls. She has about 5 times as much hair. And, looking at your icon, you have thick hair too. That blonde model looks like she has thinner, finer hair to begin with. When you razor thick hair in hopes of achieving that sleek look, it really dosnt look the same, trust me.. Unless you are willing to flat iron your hair like that every day of course!

Also what is important to consider, really layered/razored haircuts are a nightmare to pincurl. Think about all the variations of lengths in one section of hair... It's just not a cut that is meant for that type of styling. I have fairly layered hair and even I struggle with pincurls and the random lengths. However, really layered hair is a breeze to backcomb!

If you want me to be honest, the second picture is just.....I dont recommend that. It is basically a short pixie cut with a long back piece. It might even be an extension.. It's venturing into mullet territory. BUT this is just my opinion.

ANYWAY! Razored cuts look cool. They have motion, they're light, airy, and really fun. They do tend to grow out well, whereas, say, a bob usually requires regular touch ups.

BUT! Keep in mind that true vintage styles are based around a real solid form cut. They really weren't meant to move around if you know what I mean. You could try to achieve the same look with a razored cut but it might not be "true to the look"!

Well this turned into a ramble, I hope it sort of made sense.. I guess the main thing to consider is compare your own hair thickness and texture to the pictures you have!

Thank you Runa for your help! Yesterday I made the cut and my hairstylist and I had a discussion about what was possible to do with my hair, she knows how I like to style my hair and I think my hair came out nicely
I will set it tomorrow. I will show some pics of it after that!

About the second link, is that realy vintage looking!? What years? I thought that the razord and layerd ones were more (extreme) vintage unstyled cuts...

The second one reminds me of a 1970s era Vidal Sassoon cut.. Can't remember his name for it though!
