I remember you saying that you had ordered them, Sloan - so how are they now you have them? I've only ever seen them in the catalogues. I'd love to know how you rate them. Thanks.
They turned out really well! They high rise and wide leg is really flattering and compared to other high street pairs I've had, the cloth's pretty heavy. They go really well, as you'd expect, with an A-2 - my other half laughed when I wore them together for the first time, asking whether or not I was awol and that this was in danger of happening to me:

Well, I like my pants a shy bit longer than good fit. I like having the back of the press come down between the heel and the heel counter. I recall in the late 70's with the more flared leg pants, they'd taper them about 1/2" from the front to the back giving the perfect break on the front, and let it trail back to where I like it.
As for rocketeer, it does seem like we've gone from "high water" pants to everyone wearing them too long. I think part of that is they are wearing a belt and their belly lets the pants push down. When wearing formal clothes, make sure the waist is measured exact, and then wear your braces/suspenders properly to hold your pants/trousers where they are suppose to be..
IXL/Deacon, and the one thing worse for anyone with military discipline is the guys that have no idea to keep their "GIG LINE" straight. Duh.. Nothing kills the look more....
Lastly, I do wear my jeans a bit longer, and I don't install a zipper in the inseam, I just split it about an inch and a half on the inside. They "stack" just a bit on my cowboy boots, and come down nicely to the heel....

The Pinks that the officers wore were really great looking trousers. And most of the enlisted men really like the look and most I've talked to of that era, (most are gone now), thought the pinks were the best looking trousers in the military...

And yes, I know the situation in the shop only too well … <sigh>.
I remember when I got my first A2 back in the late 80's and I was just sick and tired of wearing jeans and first put a pair of chinos on with the A2 and went to the pub - and my mates were all "Where'd you crash your Starfighter? Hur, Hur! Groof, Groof!". Well, I was fair game as the whole Nick Kamen/vintage 50's era Levi ads were just out and the Americana look was new and I didn't care. I just liked the look and thought the Chinos went well with the A2.
Of course, later on, my mates would all be wearing Chinos. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say. And these days, Chinos are common and expected in schools and the work place.

Ok, this was a sneaky peek photo at a wedding.
Now this was taken at a Sicilian wedding. It looked like a lot of money had been spent here looking at the surrounding decor and how the guests were attired. But what happened with the men? Most looked and dressed like Mafia Dons, big men with well fitting jackets but in the trouser department in most cases it all appeared to go wrong.
With all that money and prestige at any wedding, I would have thought that even if these were hired suits they could have got the leg lengths correct.

I went to a college prep school (50 years ago exactly) and we would get "jug' if our trousers did not touch our shoes or even if they were less than 13" in circumference... apparently short skinny pants were all the vogue... we would also get 'jug" if our hair touched the top of our jacket collar...
What gets me are the kids at wedding receptions these days; the boys in suits with a shirt and tie. Forget the importance of a nice trouser break there; they're wearing white runners and high-tops !!! With a suit ! And the parents let them out like that! (Jesus. Listen to me. I sound like my dad!!! LOL!)
I'm always aghast - but get told to be thankful they're wearing a suit and are attending - and it's how kids are today.

I too can't stand short pants with minimal or zero break. I hate especially pants that are too short in the back. I like my pants to always touch the heel or just above. To achieve this and a clean front with suitable break the only way is to make a slanted hem: shorter in front than in the back.
Man, that's good! How many takes did that take to do - to remember all the lines and get right - and not crack up laughing ?!?!

In between those extremes is no break, quarter break, half break, and full break. Nothing worse than the "stork legs" look.
That's a great illustration. Hard to achieve all the time, as pants move up and down the waist when one walks, sits, stands, etc But I would strive for a break like that.
