New to the site but have been wearing hats for many years. Recently saw this hat on film and really like it. I think it might be a St. James Fedora from Lock and Company but am not sure. Does anyone know? Thank you.

Um...not sure how to add a photo. Sorry. The hat is the one worn by Andy Garcia in For Greater Glory.

The answer to your question is two-fold. One, there is a thread on here for almost everything, and many things have been discussed and bantered. This thread, "Ask a Question, Get An Answer," is the place to ask general hat questions without starting a new thread.

And two, I don't know, and unless they know Mr. Garcia personally, they don't know either. It's nigh on impossible to look at a hat worn by somebody else and say who made it, what it is, or where you can get it. There are a few notable exceptions to this, but generally, without being able to see the inside of the hat, it's a crapshoot. If you like the style, find one similar of the quality you like and make it work for you. OR have a custom hat made by one of the fine hatters we have on the Lounge.

Welcome to the Lounge, BTW, David. Looking forward to more of your posts!

Thank you. I don't need the exact hat but do like the style. Found the St. James but can't find a photo of anyone wearing it so I'm having trouble visualizing it. I like that this hat can be dressed up or down and is suitable for the outdoors. Sorry about my post. I didn't know. Looking forward to participating here.

Welcome! This is a great forum and you’re going to like it here. Now, to your question:

It just looks like a a fedora. There doesn’t appear to be anything special or unusual there. The color looks similar to Tawny/Fawn but I’m not certain. The hat also looks to have a fair amount of taper, but it’s hard to tell by the photo’s angle.

Akubra Federation IV in Heritage Fawn:

Stetson Stetsonian in Tawny (discontinued but still available in limited quantities):

Or send your photo to one of several custom hatters and they can make you the exact hat. The custom route is probably much easier that you think it is and it’s not terribly expensive.

Good luck.
