There was this girl, back in the mid-80s when I was just rocking a mustache, who told me, "You'd look good with a beard."

I'm going to go downstairs in a few minutes and make her some dinner.

I have to say that I get a lot of support from the woman I've loved all these years....just hope my wife doesn't find out.

The long beard has become so ubiquitous I can't imagine it being a lightning rod for anything other than a beard oil salesman. I like mine just fine - never was much for keeping up with fashion trends anyway.

I have had a beard since 1978 and I don't think it will leave me. I have worn hats since about 2000 and I don't expect to stop. I see no reason to change my preferences and if others do not care for the combination that is fine with me. I am not in the habit of living for the approbation of others.

Oddly enough there's a story not worth telling that relates to exactly that.

I can't really blame her about the beard sometimes. I tend to let it get it bit big in the winter months. Otherwise I try to keep it a bit shorter. As for hats, she's gonna have to develop an acquired taste I guess. She used to like the fashionable stingy brim fedoras I wore back in my rock band days. They're just not me, and don't fit the proportions of my face, so I don't wear them anymore.
