Thanks, Dd. Means a lot coming from you. Though I liked it, I was afraid I'd made a "clown" hat when I first appliied this crease but you, HJ and a few others made me feel more comfortable about it so now it's become a favorite western/cowboy hat.
Can one get therapy for hat insecurity?

That looks like a Cutter Crease to me , modified to your taste . It looks great !
That's it, Michael. I'd only ever seen it at rodeos and riding events on straw hats. It's mostly a dot that's put in the side dents of a cattleman crease, created some say when cutting horse riders wanted more room in their crown because they had to pull their hats down so tight.
And yes, modified to my tastes because I've been known not to leave well enough alone.
