Hello,

I used the search function, but I didn't really found much on "adVintage". So I want to show you a really nice hat. Yes, it's the Indy-Style (which I don't care much about), but it's also a very nice opencrowned fedora! I am often writing with the hatter, talking about blocking hats, a really nice guy. He made my hat without any brands, as I just wanted a hat, which is unique. First time i recieved it, it were too small, it was my fault, got the wrong size. He totally reblocked it for my as a service.

I already have got it some years, now he made a reblock. New is the golden liner, the color wasn't a mistake, what do you think?
The hat made it trough rain, hours of rain; through snow in winter and heat in summer. It never shrinked or lost it's shape.

The leatherband is a very smooth one, very comfortable.

A nice hatter from germany. -> http://www.advintagefedora.de/

Till today, I personally didn't find out all the differences between all the Indy-Creases. Of course the most significant ones, but all the details... hehe.

The hatter is getting better and better. When I recieved my hat in 2010, he just started selling hats. The...oh, how I say it in english... the grinding was much more rough. When I decided to reblock it, and he worked on it, he grinded it, again. When my hat came back, I wasn't sure, if this is my hat. It looked totally new. The grinding was much finer. I rarely had products, which getting better in quality while aging..

It's nice to see his work develop.

Hi

I also received a hat from Advintage last week.

I had originally looked into getting one from John Penman or Adventurebilt, but the import duty and VAT that British Customs would add made it unaffordable. Instead I thought I'd take a chance on Advintage. There was some discussion on a German forum that seemed to be positive and the cost would end up being a fraction of the other hatters.

I have only owned a Fed IV so have limited experience on which to make review, but I absolutely love the hat. It is far finer than the Fed IV, the felt is in a different league, the attention to detail - sewing, ribbon work etc is far superior and the colour is much better. It is also great having more accurate sizing - I have a 59.3cm head so I either go snug or loose. The Advintage fits like the proverbial glove.

Did I say I love it? I am now saving for another - he does a lovely Grey Moonstone one which looks great in the photos he sent and I'm sure will look even better in person.

If anyone is interested I'll try and put up some photos - if I can figure out how.

Regards

T

Hi Erehwon, I think you mean 'pouncing' which is the sanding of the hat to make it smoother.

Nice hat! Red liner? - Nice choice. I was thinking about it for times until I decided to get my liner golden. Cool to see different liners in that hat now![/QUOTE]

Thanks - yes I thought I'd take risk and I really like it

Nice. I have chosen rabbit, because of the money. Therefore I have to say, that I bought my hat, when they only were at 189€ for rabbit. They became a little bit more expensive over time, but the techniques have become better and finer, too.

Thats why I am so happy of my reblock, that they pounced it to finer quality. It's a 189€- hat reblocked to a now 279€- hat. :) It really looks new.

As a bump AND to ask a question....
I have an adVintage hat I Like a LOT regardless of the "Indiana Jones" connection. I DO have a question though....when were they made in Spain??....I thought they were always German made.
This one is marked as their "Indiana Vintage" model. (It is really a medium dark grey/brown with grey ribbon..Not taupe with a brown ribbon as it photographed.)
It is a really nicely proportioned well made hat!!! Very pleased with it!!! Sweat is very comfortable and soft (like a latigo leather)!
