Nice photos, thanks for sharing. I took notice of all the round "mermite" cans in the field kitchen. I don't even see them for sale and I counted 5!

That is simply an amazing event. I must try to get up there next year.
Thanks for sharing your photos. Great shots one and all. Below are some of my favorites. The mounted photos are just great.

Very impressive, and it looks like a fun time was had by all.
Incidentally, as impressive as the Kriegsmarine matrosen look, I'd really have more expected them to have been in a Coastal Artillery (Kunstenartillerie) impression, as opposed to their shoreleave/seafaring impression.
All in all, great stuff! :eusa_clap

You know, I've never been to that. But right now I'm sitting in my office looking out the window at the field the re-enactors use for parking and camping. After seeing these pictures I really have to go check it out next year.

I missed this even though I only live a half hour away. Are they doing it at Midway again next year? I see they have a "hanger" dance after, there is an absolutly great 40's retro band here that would be perfect for this event, anyone knows who sets all this up??

Being new to this forum I was looking back through the "archives", as it were and came across your pics. I love the pic of the German horse-drawn goulaschkanone in action which contrasts with the image most people today have of the Wehrmacht with its wall-to-wall panzers. Many today do not realize that most of the major combatants of World War II, notably the French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian armies relied mainly on horse-drawn transport to tow the guns and deliver the supplies. Only the American and British Commonwealth armies were fully-mechanized.

I wonder if one of the Germans in the pics is somebody I used to chat with online a few years ago. He was (or still might be) a re-enactor with the 2nd Panzer Division group in Rockford.
