Saw a very perfect 1933 Hupmobile a few months ago at one of the cruise-ins. Pretty rare now.

Wow, a 33? You know, it just makes my day to see a Hupmobile at any cruise-in! Even more surprising to see one mixed between all the '64 Impala?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s in Pomona. I love seeing any old Ford or Chevy from the 1920's to the 1950's but, those are what you see mostly. When I see an old Hupmobile or an Essex or something really rare, brother that makes my week!

=WR=

PS. I also saw a 1936 Cord two door convertible with a sold sign on it! It was a restoration candidate but, a cord at the Pomona Auto Swap??? You never see that!

Mycroft asked if my '58 Fiat (I think mine was the car he asked about) was similar to one in October Sky.

Nope, but there WAS an identical car used in the little-known movie "Putney Swope" in 1969. It was the car in a commercial that was shot in the movie.

Of course, you all know of Japanese motor company giants like Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, some of you may even have one, though none of their cars are old enough to call vintage. So, have any of you heard of Mitsuoka Motor Company? No, they're not vintage, but their concept is something special, and they only sell in Japan. I happen to drive by one of their dealerships 3 times a week, and their cars are very unique, and worth a look, I think, so here are the links. I'm sorry they're all in Japanese (which may deter many of you....I hope not) but I hope you'll enjoy the pictures.

Cool. A couple of them look like little baby Jag MK IIs.

Here's about a 49-50 Packard ambulance and some sharp-dressed folks- early 50s at latest.

First and foremost, I could browse those photos all day! Thanks for that! KR - you have got a phenominal car! I adore old cars. Must be in the genes - Grandpa had the best car sales way back in his day, and always would point out the "old beauts" to me.

I'm curious - do any of you fellow so cal folk ever go to Glendora on the weekends? I believe the old car club meets there every Saturday morning (or perhaps Sunday?) at the Classic Car place in the village. It's on Glendora Ave.

They used to have a large amount of unbelievable cars, but have halved the shop in order to accomidate their coffee house. (yeesh)

So that is the marque the hood ornament I have is from. It was in my grandfather's shop and I was wondering where he got it. I still have no idea as he never had a Packard. Hmmmm......
It sure could use a replating job and the mount could use some straightening out. I don't think I can use it on my GMC though. ;) :p

Regards to all,

J

James- There were lots of aftermarket copies of the winged Cormorant that Packard used. You Dad could have simply had one of those for his car's hood of that era.
