You're right- if you look carefully you will see that on his right the crown has a tear. I propose that excessive pinching tore the crown so he turned it sideways- i am not going to guess why though.- cybergentleman

Thoughts: Black is very bold and formal..I suggest a ribbon edge on the brim. Due to it's formality I would opt for something that pops like a velour or his silk finish. there is a great shot on this site of a guy with two silk finish hats from Art one is light color and the other was black...- cybergentleman

Something terrible happened the other day...
I suggest padding the front and rear or the sweat with slightly more paper or the sides- not all the way around. you might find that slight asymmetry in your skull will permit this just enough...avoid permanently shrinking things- that will leave you plenty of heartache when you grow back your...- cybergentleman

Here I am grilling in my sunbody it is the 5.75 crown 3.5 inch brim. I shaped it over the last few years tweaking it little by little. If you are not looking to wear the hat with a suit, but general wear, business casual or just outdoors- the sunbody is a good option. My issue with panamas is that they can crack. Regarding how to contend with these types- just ignore them. I've been hooted at a few times on the sidewalk, usually highschoolers or freshman undergrads; just smile and move on. Frankly, anyone who wastes their energy mocking a stranger for wearing clothes is a jerk and not worth the energy...- cybergentleman

I am all about vintage dress!!! What I am trying to say, and I should have been more clear about this, is that there is dressing vintage and looking sharp, and then there is wearing dated clothing for the sake of looking vintage but just looking out of place. With all due respect to you for wearing a hat, perhaps it is your overall appearance that brings out this rage in people. The way you described yourself sounds like you are a fop- tone it down.
