Wow, I didn't realize that it was that old, Lizzie. Interesting...that came from my sister's ex in Law School...it was his grandmother's and came with a large ca. 1960 BW console TV that had belonged to her so I assumed they were from the same era.- pgoat

well, I guess it looks right to my wife, wrong to me :eusa_doh: Not that I'm looking to you guys to settle an argument, and I know there's no harm in using it...but was wondering if there were any insights out there that could sway us either way. I'm intrigued by the notion of adding legs...- pgoat

Just to give an idea of the other decor in our apt., my wife also re-upholstered two chairs from the same 1940ish era that she inherited from grandmother (a wingback, and a 'club' chair)- pgoat

New Years Eve
Rang it in with two good friends, good beer, champagne at midnight and watching the Dick Clark thingy on TV. Just wore jeans and a tee but had a good fedora on hand. :D The town was hopping, a nice mildly boisterous vibe out on the streets.- pgoat

My Hat Collection Display
these are so cool. I haven't had my hats on wall hooks for many years. I'm down to about 5 fedoras and a beater straw cowboy hat for the beach, so they just live in their boxes in the closet. I also worry about moths and dust, not to mention fluctuations in humidity, which our place does have... -

alas, no pics from my playing days (early 1990s). but here is a link to their fb page, with photos. There are some modern uniforms (NY Yankees, etc) in the "ghost game" pic, but the other ones with the bibs are like the ones we wore. Great thread. I believe a few of us once posted here a while back about playing old school ball - I once played in a league that had 1860s style and 1880s (I played the latter). We wore cotton uniforms but they were a heavy serge type fabric clearly made to visually resemble wool. The jerseys...- pgoat

well, I already had the usual Kiwi hard wax stuff (in the flat metal tins) laying around, but I also have used the softer stuff in the small glass jars that Alden sells. I have had both pairs for about 6 years and only used the products about 1x/year. There's no real build up on the leather that...- pgoat

call me crazy, but I own a pair of Cordovan Aldens and a black pair. I bought the wax and creams in both colors for each, but having a similar reaction as Matt's to the finishes, I almost immediately began using the alternating colors for each. Now my black shoes have a faint burgandy...- pgoat
