Nice, but expensive
I have a Cliffhanger from Baron's.
I like the hat and wear it frequently, but I think there are better hats for the money out there. The crown is very stiff (Cowboy Hat-esque).
For their 100% Beaver hats, the prices are around $100-200 more expensive...
Not sure if it is a touchy subject at this point, but I would check with "Panama Bob," www.panamas.biz. I have purchased 4 hats from him, of varying qualities, and have been extremely satisfied with all of them. Do a site search for panamas and you will find several threads that basically...
Interestingly, until Oscar signed and endorsement agreement with Bombay Sapphire (I believe it is around $150,00 a year, paid to the city) the only gin he would drink was Beefeaters.

Wow!
You lucky (edited for content; suggested alternative: "So and So")! I wouldn't change the ribbon- just bash it up and have yourself the ultimate OR clone.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Okay, not vintage. But...
Based upon what I have collected, I would have to say George Rodrigue. Found his "Blue Dog" when I was living in New Orleans, but have since become a much bigger fan of his Cajun Landscapes... Although I can only afford litho's, I'm fortunate to own several...
JtL and JT: thanks for the kind words. It is indeed a lovely hat, nearly flawless and nearly unworn (I don't think that the previous owner wore it at all). Just one small moth nibble in the back (less than 1/16"). Bought it on the bay about a year ago, and given the economies of time, it was...
As we approach the cooler weather of the fall
I humbly submit my application for membership to the brotherhood.
My Stetson 100. Got it down out of the closet this morning, cleaned and rebashed. Can't wait for the daytime temps to get below 100...

Almost embarassed to post this after the MC masterpiece
However, I am extremely happy with this, my second panama from PB. This is a Bogie, blocked by Art. I'm way too lazy to actually count the weaves, but I estimate it to be in the neighborhood of 1000. Soft, lightweight, comfortable. I'm...
My turn to jump in.
I guess I'm like most members, much more comfortable lurking in the shadows. But here is my Panama- a Montecristi from PanamaBob, 700+ WPI. It is more than I could have asked for!
This hat has served me well all summer, from the baking heat of Las Vegas to...
Interesting, but...
There is a whole other world out there dedicated to all things Jones. Try visiting www.indygear.com/cow, and go to the fedora section.

Indeed he did
I was one of the few for whom Marc made the "Aviator" hat (see avatar, left).
However, at this point I believe Steve is only making the Indy hats. Be advised there is around a 6-8 month wait if you are thinking of ordering one.

I noticed, so I ordered two: One, a birthday present for my Dad; and the other to calm my nerves as I wait for a "Bogie" allegedly being blocked by Art as we speak. I hope I get it soon, or who knows what else I'll buy.

Front and Center...
Classic Style, front and center in Las Vegas (store #230774?). Right smack dab in the middle of the Men's Interest section. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Vertical integration? The hatmaking industry in Ecuador seems to be (based upon what I've been able to read) a disjointed enterprise with families who collect the palm and turn it into straw, who in turn sell it to weavers, who then sell thier product to finishers, who then sell to brokers, who...
Whadda ya mean.... I'm still in my teens.
Okay, I admit it. I was miserable, just like every other teen. Uncertain, insecure, quiet, questioning my very existence. If you say otherwise, you're just kidding yourself.
Are fortys that much different from teens?
Hmmm...
