Nice shirt, simonc. I like your choice of fabric and of course the horizontal stripes.;)
This pictures of an original shirt from the 1930s were recently uploaded to a facebook group. Good reference pics for reproductions.
Sounds like a good project for getting the hang of it. Once you have reached patterned sweater level we'll all stand in line to get the newest fair isle sweaters from you
The second pattern of the dockers vest looks nice. Tuck them in or wear them with a belt. Both ways are period correct. The vintage wild patterned sweater thread has enough examples, how they were worn and combined.
For your price point I would try H&M where I bough faux isle sweaters and...
This company still has them (didn't try em yet)

I think Luxire or Natty could do them too. Just ask and make sure the shirt doesn't have too much spread.
Yes! I did the same. A few years ago I bought several modern tweed caps. I never wear them anymore since the custom stuff is much better. The small caps feel funny now. You'll get used to them very fast.
The size is not the problem but the construction and fabric. I think capmakers like Cordova, Simonds, Monsivais can make you caps that are as big but not poofy. They will look different (better!) on you.
I think caps suit you. Go for it!
I don't think they are worth much. Safe it if you want but don't expect much profit.
Maybe if it is a good size and perfect condition? Lounge suits from that era go higher though and seem to be a new niche for collectors who are tired of 30s and even twenties already.
Well they are all younger than the actress in the picture TT posted. Plus we are mainly here to talk about the vintage clothes not about "hot chicks". I seriously think her peak lapel houndstooth jacket is a more interesting conversation piece than the stuff on the 90s models. But OK. I get it...
Read the caption. It says little(!)/ no lining.
Most sellers would describe untipped ties as unlined. For the small tie knot tie knot this is still good enough.
The pictures guttersnipe posted are excellent.
Some eBay sellers mention unlined or Untipped in their descriptions. If it is untipped chances are very high the lining is thin enough for your needs. Wool ties are often untipped and brocade ties too. If you just play with those searchwords you will get some results.
EBay and etsy? If you search for 30s or 40s ties you will find a few. Just dig through a few pages. We can't do all the footwork for you.
What do you need? Pattern or plain colors?
Ah yes. Talcum powder. The nothern soul way.
The lindy dancers often use duct tape on their canvas sneakers. Like you observed they are not ideal for dancing otherwise.
I don't know how much this helps but I've seen it often.
A small piece of the fabric recently went for crazy dollars on eBay. It wasn't even enough for a cap. So what to do with it? A Boro patch on your jeans? Lol.

But it's a cool looking fabric for sure. The Japanese make some good reproductions.
Original Ike jacket Size 38 (german size 48)
Dated Dez 1944, see the last picture.
Chest single 53 cm / 42 inch (it's thick wool and fits smaller)
Shoulder 47 cm / 18,5 inch
Mid collar to end of sleeves 86 cm / 34 inch
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve: 63,5 / 25 inch
General condition is good...
I agree. It's a few years earlier than my preffered style and that really shows in the details. I don't like the hat shape and the knickerbockers look better as plus fours too.
But like you I would still be happy to find any of them. ;)
