No still technically Oslo, but Oslo kommune rambles a bit, like most cities with urban sprawl ;)
A most amazing museum and the level of preservation of the ships is unbelievable. And a hop, skip and a jump from the Kon-Tiki Museum which boggles the mind when you think they crossed the Pacific...
I have an interest in ancient history and specifically Greek and Roman, although it's been surpassed by my interest in the air wars in WWI and WWII. Did latin and classical studies at school (Greek and Roman) and thoroughly enjoyed them. Actually read Tom Holland's recent translation of "The...
Yup sounds like the timeworn finish. ELC brought this in a few years back originally on one of the A-2 models (possibly the 50 cal) but expanded it across the range. IIRC it's done by hand so not one of those "bung it in a washer with a bag of marbles and 3 pieces of sandpaper" ;)
Your new...

We are lucky here Richard, it's a very pretty part of the world. And if you like doing outdoorsy stuff (like I do) you're spoiled for choice with, depending on the season, fishing, sailing, skiing, hunting, hiking, etc, etc. We're not regretting the decision to bring the kids back...
Now that we've moved to the Northern Hemisphere and just a hop, skip and a jump from Scotland I really want to make the Aero pilgrimage. I love the idea of visiting and walking out the door with a new jacket, sans waiting time and with all the fun of trying on at Aero. I've got family in...
Any plain back, non-gusseted jacket will ride up if you stick your arms up or straight out, even fabric jackets and especially if it's relatively trim. It's just it's more noticeable with leather jackets because of the heft of the material. Low arm holes also contribute to this and in my opinion...
I respectfully disagree with this. The Barnstormer is actually quite a versatile coat. Back in the day here at FL the Barnstormer was a fairly common coat to see posted here in new acquisition threads, and there was a fair amount of people of different shapes and sizes buying them and wearing...
I have an Aero Barnstormer in FQHH which is arguably the "heavy artillery" when it comes to leather coats/jackets and I have never once found it uncomfortable, annoying or cumbersome when driving in it. It's also worth remembering that these styles (like the Barnstormer) were developed as...
This is a blast from the past, even good old Andrew (Windsock) was still around!
Carson, not sure whether yours is the same but there were a lot of mumblings about ELC's broken grain back in the day.
That G-1 does look fantastic and being HH it'll get some really lovely patina going fairly quickly - which is good for those who shy away from goat due to the longer period it takes to get some wear going.
Good call, don't have a jacket myself with rust knits but if or when I got a very dark seal or black, I'd go for the rust. Looks great with the very dark hides.
There's lots of the usual suspects, even Schotts, Sears, etc. As you'll know the quality ranges drastically. Although I got the best one I've had yet off the Bay last month, dark russet, truly beautiful leather (steerhide I think) with a nice light patina and absolutely the perfect fit...
Seb, it's always nice to find another partner in crime but I suspect you and I are the exception rather than the rule round these parts for jackets like these ;)
Hope you're in for some decent jacket weather soon - was just on the phone with my best mate and he said the weather has been bloody...
I'd sworn off buying anymore high end new jackets this year but I have a feeling such a sale might just be too tempting.
I wonder if it'll be a case of "storse anyone?" :D
My guilty (and completely off-topic for TFL) pleasure is these kinds of jackets, not blazers but 60s and 70s coats/car coats. I pick them up for a song on the Bay - especially compared to 30s/40s/50s stuff - but as I said, completely off topic for a Golden Era forum like here and certainly not...
It entirely depends on the country you live in and henceforth the business environment you work in.
Here we have no set guidelines for so called "business attire" as weather really dictates how you dress and subsequently almost everyone wear casual clothing.
Back in Oz in my previous positions...
Good for you Babydoll. Asian food and especially Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese is what we eat mostly for dinner over the week, probably 4 nights on average. It's quick, healthy (generally, depending on the dish), our kids love it - it's a great way to get the veges in them, and it tastes...
I have a couple of old jackets that need a lick of conditioner. I used RM Williams Saddle and Leather Dressing for donkeys years but it's not at all easy to get here and I'm buggered if I'm going to spend more on shipping than on the product itself so a question for those who have tried it. Any...
