One of those channels i regularly watch is TCM because its really classic movies. On Memorial Day they ran a silent classic in King Vidor's Big Parade. It is the story of a vacant idle son of American affluence coming of age in the War to End All Wars. To help set its scene, it displayed a...
Unfortunately, yes, I believe it is. I have been a SWL for as long as I remember, first on a large GE "portable" then upon a Yaesu FRG 8800 and upon the Sangean portable currently sitting on my credenza. I have an outdoor longwire, but, alas, there isn't much to listen to anymore. I miss Radio...

Glenlivet mostly, I just got a bottle of 15 year old that is very good. I also like Macallan, as well. As for blends, I like Famous Grouse and Dewars. My sin is that I almost always take them on the rocks.
With Memorial Day having just passed, I wanted to post this link. This was on PBS on Monday and I had recorded it and just got to watch it this morning. It brings the 40's into focus.

I studied in England in the late 70s and got a chance to visit the...
I guess I have never really introduced myself, I just sort of jumped into posting after lurking a bit. My name is Randy Lucas. I am a practicing attorney in Gallatin, Tennessee. I was born and raised in the Indianapolis area and practiced law there for 16 years before going through a divorce...
I am a practicing lawyer in Middle Tennessee. I have been practicing for 26 years June 3rd, first in Indiana and now in Tennessee. I thought it might be simply advancing age, but I must say the standards of dress and decorum in court have dropped dramatically over my career. I still wear a suit...
I just got this in the mail and could not be happier. It is an incredible Homburg of exceptional quality. As soon as I can take some pictures, I will post them. The color is a richer brown than these pictures show...
My two cents:
Club Royale
Pyramid Club
The Peacock Ballroom
After I posted I got curious about old club and ballroom names. This site might give you some ideas: http://www.streetswing.com/histclub.htm
Then, this evening for casual, one of my favorites:
This is a Saxson that I picked up a couple weeks ago and have reshaped a bit. It's very light felt and is reshaped easily. It has some moth bites in it, but is great for casual.
Well, as I said, I found it compelling for some reason. It looks as though it's in good condition so I'm eager to see it in person and see what it looks like on me. I splurged and bought two others this week, but I am done for a while. Here are the other two...

I'll be interested to see this when it comes. I'm not sure what I'll do with this nor how it will look on me, but I found it compelling, couldn't resist and the price was right.
This was this morning. A Bailey Shantung fedora that is well worn, having been wet, and I mean really wet and dirty from wear. I got it back a couple weeks ago from Drew at CleanaHat.com, who cleaned, reshellaced and put a new band on it. While it doesn't look pristine and new, it looks a world...
Bob, my avatar shows it on my head, but admittedly, not well. I'll see what I can do.
In the meantime, after work I went out to see the horses and ride a bit so I wore this.
It's a Stetson Roll Up, straw cowboy hat that my mother-in-law bought for me in Marble Falls, Texas about 7...
