You do have to be careful about the source of your untaxed liquor. Mine comes from a master distiller of my acquaintance. I am always reluctant to get it from other sources because of that radiator thing. I have no affinity to lead based drinks.
I have a Saxson version of the Open Road. Ir has no names associated with it as far as I can see. Mine's a bit moth eaten and beaten up. I wear it as my "work" hat for doing outside work when its cool enough.
I have some of that, too, Atticus. It is very good. I also, however, have a small supply of real untaxed liquor. Because I am a defense lawyer, I'm sure people consider that it's part of my client's retainer fees, which sometimes, of course, it is. Luckily in Tennessee it is not unlawful to...
My apologies, as well, Miss Kitty. I have been facetious anyway. As anyone can easily tell from my avatar, I've never met a barbeque I didn't like. I'll be quiet now.
I, too, have worn leather soles my whole adult life regardless of weather, without any real difficulty. I grew up and practiced law in Central Indiana, Indianapolis and its environs, and have always tended toward Florsheim and Johnson & Murphy shoes with leather soles. In the Indiana winter...
I have long been a big fan of David Suchet's depiction of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. I have always loved his gray homburg. In the original TV movies he wore this homburg:
Last night on PBS they showed the newest installment, Cat among Pigeons and he wore a new and I thought...
Atticus, when visiting my wife's family in Austin and thereabouts, I had a similar discovery of brisket, sliced thin with no sauce and served only with saltines and Shiner. I must admit, that, at least for a time, it made me forget my personal favorite of ribs. My experience with Carolina style...
I see, as usual, I have no choice but to correct the State with regard to the facts. I cannot remember the last time a Carolina Style rib or pulled pork won Memphis in May, the premier barbeque competition in the world. While I am sure my learned colleague means well, vinegar and pepper is NOT a...
Tennessee is also famous for its barbeque. The Memphis style favors dry rubs over sauce. Myself, I tend more toward the Kansas City style with tomato based, as opposed to vinegar based sauces. I have a large Texas style smoker (My wife is from Austin) and make several styles of sauces depending...
Well, not exactly today, but over the weekend, first for drill:
Then Sunday evening after drill to Lowe's to pick up yard work supplies and then to do yard work:
This is a Perez from Mexico that I picked up on ebay for $.99.
I wear a suit or a sports coat everyday. I wear suits on days I expect to be in coat and sport coat and slacks on days in the office. For a lawyer a suit is practically speaking, a uniform. I have twelve suits, most of them weighted for "year round" wear. I tend more because of personality to...

I watched this, as well. It went for more what I expected. Did anyone here get either of these hats?
