Ponds to the rescue
My skin has become very sensitive since menopause. I've found that any cream with wrinkle fighters or sunscreen will have my skin red, itchy and raw. The last time this happened I grabbed the Ponds and found it didn't burn or irritate my inflamed skin. I use Ponds cold cream...
@ Project:Girl------Try to find a bar of Fels Naptha soap. It's available here in the states, I don't know about Australia. My grandmother used it as her regular detergent. You might be able to find it online. Just wet your hanky or anything for that matter and rub the bar of soap on the stain...
Don't forget to have the bed turned down, the lights low and a great old movie on the TV or just some good vintage music playing. A bath like you are describing is for pure relaxation and pampering.
I love Youth Dew. I just bought myself a small bottle. You and I are very similar in our tastes. I always have cream sherry or a nice port wine in the house. I have a crystal bowl of the most expensive dark chocolates I can afford on the bedside table and I have a kitty that likes to see what...
"Her Grace the Lady Victoria McVintage on a Pony" just made me spit coffee all over the screen. :D
I don't dress vintage simply because I don't think women came in my size back then (I'm 5'11"). I see vintage as being more ladylike in dress, so I try to bring that into my daily life.
I'm with you St. Louis. I love to iron. You handle your linen the same way I do. My grandmother would sprinkler the items and then put them in the fridge for a bit. I'm not sure why but I do the same thing. There is nothing better than having a beautiful linen or lawn embroidered and crocheted...
Crocheted edge Hankies
Washing cotton/linen hankies is quite acceptable. You can use just about anything. Linen is quite durable, even vintage linen. If your hankie has crocheted lace edging, remember that more than likely, it's cotton crochet thread and it will tighten up in the dryer. If this...
Jane,
Take the collar to your local dry cleaners. They might be able to help you with some type of fastener. I have a mink collar and there are clips on the undersid to attach to a jacket or sweater.
I agree with Jane and Nathalie and would like to add Maybeline has really nice pencils (2/package). Milani has a really great eyebrow compact with 2 shades, a highlighter and little brushes. It comes in light (I use this one, I'm a med. golden blonde) and medium which might work for you. Next...
Not really Jane. I did have a compact years ago that didn't close correctly and it did leak. It didn't bother me too much. The scent of Coyty Airspun made my handbag smell nice..LOL I just took my largest compact on vacation and it traveled really well. When you are thinking about buying a...
I use all of my vintage compacts. If the screen is not with the compact, then I make the powder/alcohol mixture. I do have one small silver one that has a sliding cover over the powder. When I want to use it, I just slide it to the open holes and then I can dispense as much powder as I need.
Powder Screen
You are correct. With the powder screen you can use loose powder. Fill the compact and then place the screen on top of the powder. It should keep tidy in your bag then.
I think you'll like it FWG. I use it as a concealer at the corners of my eyes. I'm very fair skinned and the blue really shows through in those areas. I do find that it's alittle too heavie for the rest of my face. I'm at that age where my pores are big enough to drive a bus into them [huh] and...
Pan Cake
I actually pass the cake through a low stream of water. It just moistens the cake enough and then I use a flat headed blending brush to swirl around the cake and then apply. It seems to work for me. A latex sponge always seemed to be too wet no matter how much I rang it out. The...
