This one is a giant step out of my comfort zone! I normally avoid high necks, slimmer skirts and am terrified of mixing prints but I think I'm happy with it.

    Wikipedia will be blacked out!

But, to be completely honest, this is an US piece of legislation. Some blogger in Romania blacking out his site does nothing to convince a Congressman from Kentucky not to vote for it. It's good that the large sites like Wiki and Google are doing this, but for indie bloggers, the best thing...

    Wikipedia will be blacked out!

My husband has posted a blog post about SOPA and the blackouts, if anyone is interested. http://thecommandline.net/2012/01/18/big-content-wont-scare-me-off-the-net/

    Wikipedia will be blacked out!

The problem with SOPA is it's more than just protecting Lizzie's work. This site is filled with things that would be considered a violation of SOPA and it would be shut down. Any time someone posts ANYTHING that isn't their own, it would be a violation. Say, for example, someone posts an...

    Wikipedia will be blacked out!

As I've said elsewhere on the internet: My husband, who works for a non-profit organization that lobbies for consumer protection and against the entertainment industry (MPAA, Telephone/Cable companies) says the blackout won’t accomplish anything. If you truly want to do something about SOPA and...

    What a confusion.

I think the best thing about vintage style is that as modern girls, we get to pick and choose from 100 years of fashion what we want to wear. If I was living in 1935, I'd only have shops full of 1935 styles to choose from. My closet has everything in it from a 1931 dress and bolero to a...

how many years can a forum last? will you still be a active member in 10 - 15 years?

I've been here for 8 years, it's possible for forums to last 10+ years. There is a religion-based forum that I use to mod that is still around after over 10 years. I started going to forums back in 98-99. I think most of the internet has been around a lot longer than many people realize. I...

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Can we just say "too much" :D I started out with a couple of my homegrown rum drinks: an ounce of white rum, an ounce of creme de banana, fill glass with orange mango juice. By the end of the evening, it was just straight shots of vodka right out of the freezer.

Should I get a perm? Advice please.

What kind of color are you using? Generally speaking, I recommend to my clients that they switch to a semi-permanent color if they want to have a perm also. Of course, this isn't possible if you are bleaching or highlighting your hair. If your hair is in relatively good condition, your...

Humility is a sign of beauty.

This is tough because when I was in beauty school, boasting of your skills was encouraged as part of the marketing yourself aspect of being a stylist. It makes sense to boast of the professional skills if that's what I'm selling. On the other hand, I try hard to not boast of my...

    Men who can cook.

That won't work for us. My older son has been a vegan since he was 9 years old, of his own choosing. Plus, we live no where near any place that allows hunting or fishing, even if he was interested in those activities. My husband has never been hunting or fishing and I don't know anyone around...

Hair help - what am I doing wrong???

When I use foam rollers, I use two packages of them. Also be aware that foam rollers can cause dents where the plastic bar holder thingys are. Each of the different type of rollers have their pros and cons. Foam rollers are easier to sleep in, but take more brushing to work around the dent.

    Men who can cook.

Well, so far, my only hands-on teaching has been proper knife technique, simply for safety reasons. Typically, I will show them how to do something, for example proper whisking technique, then step aside and hand them the tool, then sit down at the kitchen table.. I am NOT the type to do...

    Men who can cook.

A question for the gentlemen: would you have wanted your mother to teach you to cook? I have two sons who I think are now old enough to really get in there without too much adult supervision. My younger son (9)says cooking is for girls, but my older one(12) is enthusiastic.
