I think it looks good on you. Short jackets look great on the right build (kind of athletic, with broad-ish shoulders and not too long legs), I could never pull it off.
For a lighter wearing jacket try Horween Vermont from Johnson Leather. It is much better than any lambskin and not at all stiff/thick. Thedi may have something up your alley too, doesn't hurt to email them and ask.

So on the board racer the back seam is done so you have more space in the back when hunched over on a bike? I guess this allows them to keep the front more fitting when standing normally?
