About a month ago, I put up a brief post about two hats I picked up on Etsy -- my "town and country duo" of a gray Resistol fedora in seeming mint condition, and a Champ version of the Open Road in comparable good shape.
Well, the Resistol arrived in short order and proved every bit as great...
For $50 you can do rather nicely in the vintage category. Try Tom Mullane's Website, MyFavoritePens.com. He's selling a never-used Parker 21 Deluxe, with a medium nib, for fifty bucks on the nose. Or you can get regular Parker 21s for half that price. He also has a couple of Sheaffer Touchdowns...
Town and country
I've been shut out of a few auctions on ebay recently (on that beautiful MacLachlan posted above, among others) so I wandered over to hippiebay ... err ... Etsy to see what was available in the vintage section.
I live in a rural area, and I like the idea of having "town" and...
I've been carrying a Parker 21 Deluxe that's an amazing writer -- the ink flows as soon as it touches paper, even if it hasn't been used for a few days. I'm refurbishing a Parker "51", which has the potential to displace the 21 for everyday use.

MattJH,
What has been your experience with that hat? I think I just bought its twin, but in brown. Another back-of-the-closet grandpa special, according to the owner.
I just checked ebay. There's a good supply over there for about half price in several different sizes. See if you can match up your size with the color you want. (Search "macalister boot")

J. Crew makes the MacAlister boot, which is a classic desert boot style. A bunch of them turned up on ebay last summer -- overstock, I guess -- and I picked up a pair for a third of retail price.
The boots I bought fit great, are well made, and are marked "made in Italy."
They do have the...
Hmmm ...
Has anybody tried Tag Safari (http://www.tagsafari.com/default.aspx)? I know nothing about them that isn't on their Website, but they seem pretty legit (they advertise that the gear is made in Zimbabwe) and the prices aren't bad at all.
I'll second the earlier endorsement of...
At the risk of wading, with my first post, into what appear to be perilous waters, let me say that the scents in Bay Rum can be summery or wintry depending on cultural factors.
In northern Europe, cinnamon, cloves and the like are very much Christmas spices. I grew up with German cooking and...
