The nice thing about pour over cups or pots (and then into an insulated carafe) is that it's a purer cup of coffee. Personally, I hate using French presses and I don't like dealing with the clean-up. The clean-up with a Melitta filter is dumping the filter in the garbage. Done.
I refuse to...
I get the vintage feeling by having a lot of vintage furniture, collectibles, books, etc. I like to listen to old time radio and do it through a 1936 Zenith 6-S-128. I drink my coffee out of old Victor Insulator mugs. But I don't dress vintage or give up certain modern comforts. I guess I'm...
I want to thank the Lounger who posted about this show in one of the radio threads. I'd never heard about it but it may be the best of the radio detective shows. I have little doubt that the Firesign Theater guys used this as a model for Nick Danger.
Not sure but I think archive.org may...
I probably won't bother as I have no interest in using it nor any real purpose for it other than as a thing to look at and remind me of earlier times. I much prefer a computer. ;)
After seeing this thread the other day, I went into my library and took another look at the old Woodstock I'd bought as an object d' art to display. I found it 15 or so years ago at a local used furniture store and paid maybe $10-15 for it. I set in on a table and other than occasionally...
We have had the habit of grinding daily for over 30 years now. Well, at least me. I only grind enough for my 2-3 cups of morning coffee. My wife grinds 2-3 day's worth. We drink French roast that we pick up at Costco. I'd rather buy smaller batches of a pound at a time for freshness' sake...
I should have added these links to free OTR sites. I don't download, I stream. These are from my bookmark OTR folder:

I recall coming across old radio shows on KPFK in LA in the late 60's or early 70's. They played old radio shows on occasion (like once a week?) along with Dr. Demento, early Firesign, etc. At some point, I recorded a number of them on cassettes by sticking the mic in front of the speaker.

No, it was restored by a local fellow who has a small electronics repair business. This one was in his personal collection at home and he brought it into the shop for me to look at. He's got, probably, 20 working wood radios and a number of bakelite too. We live in a small town and the guy is...

For some reason, this site won't allow me to post an image within the post.
Anyway, this is a 1936-7 Zenith 6-S-128 tombstone radio. Fully restored with an input to play old radio through my computer.
BTW, if you...
I've worn khaki and olive drab field/uniform type shirts for well over 30 years. I wear them with jeans or khaki or olive drab pants but never khaki with khaki. This look started for me when I was a cop as a younger man (our uniform was khaki shirt and dark green pants) and I just felt more...
At the moment, wearing a a pepsi bezel GMT II. Also have a Sub Date and my first Rolex, a gold and steel Datejust I bought for myself after landing a big client when I was in the financial business. I rotate between all three (and an Omega Speedmaster Professional).
I kind of understand where LW is coming from with their hit on sites like this and the jacket forum. However, it's sort of biting the hand that feeds you too.
They're too spendy for me in any event.
The knit seems to be that which would be found on the earlier 422 jackets according to the claims of Gibson & Barnes when discussing their 422a jacket. Looks like a helluva deal one way or the other for a c-note.
