Very cool, Goose--I should have guessed Hilo Hattie's. They were prominent in my last trip to Maui a few years ago, and since then I've used their website to send gifts (and to buy one or two for myself). Looking good with that Hilo/homburg combo.
I have that problem too, G Man. Even with my 3 1/2" at the back, my cranium touches the lining...I've used a bowl to shape the crown so that my c-crown/teardrop (which is it?) creates a dome in the middle of the crown...but my head still hits part of the top. Even so, I like the way the lid...
Nice job with the bash, twilson66...looks great. And JP, I can't see the discoloration, so probably nothing to worry about. I like the taupe fawn and the contrasting, slightly darker ribbon...if my silverbelly weren't en route from Australia, I might join you both. But I'll restrain myself for...
Congrats, G Man...you'll love it, and the stiffness works out with wear and use. Good start on your bash. One recommendation that I received from experienced Loungers when I received my Fed IV that I'll pass on to you. Consider a "tugboat" effect on your Fed. This raises the front crown higher...
Thanks, all, for your kind words. I do love the Fed.
Actually, that shirt isn't too nice at all; or if it is, it's because it's a Tommy Bahama wannabe. The maker is Carribean Joe, sold at Macy's. I picked it up at an end-of-season sale a while back for far, far less than Mr. Bahama would have...
Looks great to me...with a darker background, you'd come off as very mysterious...The Lady in Red (hat). Perhaps not the impression you want to give for Easter service, but it looks great nonetheless.
If you're anywhere in California near Long Beach, Village Hat Shop is a good place to try on a variety of different styles. I wouldn't necessarily buy a hat from them--there are better deals online--but it's a good place to visit to try on a look. Search this site; I understand there are hat...
My Tawny Fawn Fed IV std was a great hat for the California desert in spring as long as I wasn't on a long walk (then things got a bit sweaty...). The lid is perfect with Hawaiian shirts...thought it time to join this thread!
Raw Shark, good for you for making the leap to a regular use fedora. Like Belegnole, I began with the stingy brims, and once I discovered this forum, moved to the wider brims. Now I can't actually wear a stingy brim; with anything smaller than 2" brim on my head, I feel like a pinhead. That's...
Great looking Campdraft, IC, and a very class act, BobC. :eusa_clap
My Silverbelly Campdraft is in the mail and should arrive in California in the next week or so...these images of the Glen Gray are making me itchy to finally have the Campdraft on my head! I like the bash, IC--looks like a...
Doublegun, in my experience, dealing with Hats Direct has been fantastic. Like you, I hadn't purchased anything off-shore prior to discovering the FL and the great Fed IVs that people here love. I had questions, primarily about color and sizing, so I emailed Hats Direct (the address is on their...
That second photo looks fantastic, Matt--glad to see a bound brim. I second Fletch's suggestion; a silverbelly or similarly light color (a pearl gray, perhaps?) will be very popular...
I'm surprised about the Miller Danville pug, Bob. It's the only one pictured on the website, and really the only thing that sets it apart from some of the other Milan straws they post (many of which seem to be the same hat with a different pug or ribbon). I didn't ask about it--I just ordered it...
