Any budding ww2 jacket artists out there?

Here is a pic of a doodle I forgot to post yesterday. From 'Stagecoach'.

Any budding ww2 jacket artists out there?

Favorite pinup image of all time... Like I said, I'm a huge fan of Elvgren, but Petty to me is king. I'm working my way through Amazon looking for the best Petty and Jacket art books...

Any budding ww2 jacket artists out there?

Well, I havent painted in the oil style for about 4-5 years, but that is how I started out and you really never forget. Right now I work in an odd watercolor/colored pencil style that I formed from experience/trial and error. I'm a huge fan of the pin up style, I have 2 books on Gil Elvgren...

Any budding ww2 jacket artists out there?

Lets not start that up again! :) Oh, and dont mind the black smudges on that one, I'm usually a festidiously clean worker. They'll be covered up in the end anyway.

Any budding ww2 jacket artists out there?

Seeing this great jacket artwork gave me an idea. This is something I could do! I dug through some old sketchbooks and found all of the pictures of dame-er women I could find. I threw in some old paintings too, just so you can see I can work in color. That last one is a work...

Favorite of all time and why

If ever there was a movie that could loose about 45 minutes and come out 100% better for it, this is it. I loved the look of this film, and most of the performances, and I also enjoyed seeing a modern WWII film that was set in the pacific theatre, but MAN, those 'dream' sequences ruined this...

    Name your "bookend" double feature.

The Wizard of Oz, and 101 Dalmations. Two of my daughters favorite films. I could take her out to the movies for the first time and not worry about language, fart jokes, ect. (And I would actually enjoy myself for once as well.)

Favorite of all time and why

I hear you loud and clear. It was terribly difficult to pick one film out of the several hundred that I truly love, to call my favorite. Like picking your favorite child. I guess I just find that of all the movies I really love, Seven Samurai encompasses everything that I find necessary and...

    Tax Refund Time!!!

:) Uhh, yeah. I meant this thread to be a fun, sort of 'what would you do if', kind of thing. As in, if you had $700 worth of FREE MONEY, to spend on anything you want, kind of thing. Not, 'sensible financial planning for a safe and secure future'. Dont worry about me, dad. I live a very...

The Art World and the Fedora

Look at the work of some of the great, old-time Illustrators. J.C. Leyendecker, Charles Dana Gibson, obviously Norman Rockwell, Harrison Fisher, ect. A lot of them, (Leyendecker especially), did work exclusively for the mens fashion industry. Their work is just exploding with examples of about...

Favorite of all time and why

Interesting, never even heard of that one! And you reminded me... Mad Max and The Road Warrior, two more of the movies I grew up with. How could I forget those? Oh, and Zulu.

    Five that are Seriously Overrated...

Well, let me rephrase myself. I find that type of movie to be overrated. The whole murder/mystery genre I generally find rather dull. And as The Maltese Falcon sits pretty much at the top of the heap as far as that kind of murder/mystery/film noir film goes, I singled it out as being overrated...

Favorite of all time and why

I nearly forgot to mention the action scenes! They are some of the best staged, executed and filmed of any film, ever.

    Five that are Seriously Overrated...

Sorry, no! :) I love Casablanca for the exact reasons I find TMF so tiring. The Maltese Falcon has it's strong points, (Sydney Greenstreet), but other than the great clothes, I dont get it.

Favorite of all time and why

All time favorite. If you can decide on one film, and one film only, which is it? Of any decade. And more importantly, why does this particular film appeal to you so much? Heres mine: Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai I first saw this film in high school after reading about it in a book...
