So my 15 year old daughter walks into the room tonight and asks me if I want to watch a Humphrey Bogart movie. I love it! Out comes Bogey and Ida Lupino in "High Sierra."
Hmmm. I just found this thread for the first time. I'm sorry that I've overlooked it up until now. I enjoy riflery and am passionate about shooting known-distance and unknown distance with "off-the-rack" iron-sighted rifles.
The old military standard was to shoot to 4 moa out to 500 yards...
I've collected books off and on for several years.
The four volumes on the bottom are a printing of The Spectator from 1855. I also have a complete four volume set of The Tattler printed in 1804. The top volume in the picture is a biography of Philip Henry, the Father of Bible...
Like Miss Golightly, I haven't seen the remake. I'm not really interested in seeing it either. Robert Shaw, Walter Mathau, Martin Balsam...I'm not sure how you can beat that. Check them both out and make your own call. But, I highly recommend the 1974 version.

Thank you. I'm of the same opinion. However, I've never been able to express it so vividly.
I'll add to your comments concerning rock music that for similar reasons it pains me to see Jazz turned into something studied and served to the Carnegie Hall set.
I recently went camping in Wiscassett, Maine at a camp ground that is situated next to a small airfield. One morning I was taking some pictures when I heard what sounded like several prop planes coming right over the trees behind me. I looked up and snapped this picture:
