Information on Pedigree brand rlk dug up for me for my corporate archaeology class research:
Direct pdf of company history here.
M.S. Levy and Sons merged with the New England Panama Hat Company and Brigham Hopkins Co. in 1939, operating under the name of Men's Hats, Inc.. The business was...
After receiving it in the mail, I decided to return it for full refund. The main problem was the bottom used two support bases with adjustable width, and nothing between to separate the columns of hats. This made it a little dangerous for transporting all 4 of my hats, especially the boater...
1. I just apply a thin bead of medium cyanoacrylate glue, and spread to where it's barely visible while holding the loose strands together. I made a real seamless pinch repair this way.
2. Don't use deck water sealer. I ruined a really cheap modern panama this way by warping the straw. Not...

It seems they also made boaters. The store on the sweat closed in 1956, if that helps date the brand any.
And the pics of the size tag couldn't hurt this thread either.
My first boater here: http://picasaweb.google.com/112035090953435902534/PedigreeBoater
2.5" brim, 3.5" high crown, tag below liner reads 57750.
According to here: http://newspaperarchive.com/salina-journal/1956-11-05/page-11/, the store on the sweat went out of business in 1956.
Does the...
What do people think of this maker or product in terms of horizontal storage: http://www.amazon.com/Hammer-Triple-English-Hat-Carrier/dp/B0011ZU3OQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1345509536&sr=8-2&keywords=triple+hat+carrier%27
With 4 full hats and a flat cap, it's looking mighty appealing.
My most recent purchase here: http://picasaweb.google.com/112035090953435902534/KnoxHomburg
$20 with shipping on ebay.
It feels like a wool felt since I can't feel a rough direction when rubbing it with my fingers, and looks like it was serviced at a factory with the newer inner label over an...

$9 at a secondhand shop. Can anyone tell when the hat was produced?
Project folder updated.
+Top hat
+newsboy cap
+crease label
minimize size of url citations
new panama picture
I'm not doing the ribbon types or types of parts of the hat, as those are too numerous and are covered in more detail among the threads here.
Does the crease label indicate all the...
I found a stetson harris tweed flat cap at goodwill for $2, as well as a lumpy 15 wpi panama I reshaped for casual wear for $5 including adding a ribbon.
Apparently my region (Keeweenaw) doesn't have a large density of good hats from the garage saling i've done this past summer.
Updated project folder with people's suggestions.
+Added formality range to homburg
+Noted how this is a general guide and formality changes with era and region
+labeled center dent, side dent, and pinch
-crease label (no room on page after above change)
^size chart disclaimer
Changes...
For stage 2 of the beginner section, I will add a hat size chart and how to measure for such.
For the intermediate level pages, I will add ribbon bow styles, types of each part of the hat, and fedora/derby formality by design.
Do you feel ribbon bow designs have a formality scale to them, or...
