I remember reading an interview with Evel Knievel some years back where somebody asked him if he was ever afraid before doing his stunts and he said something like, "No, I always have a couple shots of Wild Turkey."
That was a rather brusque thing to say. I'm not sure about other states, but in Texas, it is legal to drink no matter what one's age as long as one's parents are present and consent to it. And given that I will be 21 in a month, I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask for suggestions.
I need to make a more detailed examination of ryes. So far I've only tried a few (part of this is due to my being under the legal drinking age). In general, I think it's a push with bourbon for me, although there are a couple small-batch bourbons I've really enjoyed. Can anyone recommend some...
A humidor and all the trimmings, a copy of "Dressing the Man," a John Cleese-autographed copy of the Monty Python Encyclopedia, and the Black Lizard Big Book of Pulps.
I don't think it's really scabbish unless they fire or replace the current writing staff, which they won't. The shows will probably be pretty crappy without the writers, but I think it'll be at least worth giving a chance.
I would go so far as to say that this is probably the best-looking group of forum denziens on the web. Not that there's a whole lot of competition for that title or anything, but still.;)
Well, I am not much for modern music, so I'll skip CDs, but here are my pics for movie and TV series:
For movie, I'm going to go with "No Country for Old Men," although that could be because I haven't seen "There Will Be Blood" yet. "Atonement" gets honorable mention. Surprisingly, despite...
It's already been said, really, but it's just simple economics. What members of the Lounge want and what the other 99% of Ralph's market wants are two completely different things. You can't really blame the guy for making a buck. Isn't it better that he gets some stuff "wrong" but still...
I apologize, Novella. I didn't mean to knock your fella. Hey, that rhymes. Seriously, though. I can see what you mean. I suppose he's handsome sort of in the same way that Fred Astaire was: not what you'd call swoon material, but just so charming you can't help but like him.
I always wondered how anyone could find Dick Powell handsome. Not that he was ugly, really. Just... no chin. If I didn't know better, I wouldn't peg him as the kind who would play the romantic lead in musicals.
A decent pair of spats is so hard to find these days. I've been toying with the idea of buying a pair for years now, but I just don't know. They may be a bit much. Looking dapper is one thing; sticking out like a sore (albeit snappy) thumb is another. If I buy a pair, I may try dressing them...
I'm a big fan of simplicity. On a day-to-day basis, the only piece of jewelry I wear is my wristwatch. 4 out of 5 times I wear a tie, I opt for the tie clip. It adds a welcome bit of aplomb and individuality, I think, which is important when you're around a lot of business majors in cheap...
