    The 50's "Beatnik" Look

It is awful though, but black really is the way to go. Be careful! two different shades will REALLY show up under set lights, even if they look the same.

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I may cry! I bought a new sewing machine - a Kenmore - from Sears. It's not a high model or high dollar machine by any means, but I figured it would do the job. I know this isn't the sewing machines fault, but I want to throw it in Lake Michigan. I don't know if it's the bobbin thread...

    Dried out lipstick:(

my go to with lipsticks is lip balm first, then lipstick over the top. if it's literally so dry that it's crumbly, the only thing to do would be put melt it down with some lip balm (softlips IS good, as are Burt's Bees products) and use it in a smudge pot.

    liquid eyeliner?

I found a Loreal Eyeliner marker and i'm obsessed with it. It's liquid liner with pencil application. You can also (and this is my prefered method) brush the marker with an angled concealer brush and apply the eyeliner that way. As long as you keep the brush in good shape, it's an excellent...

    need some brutal honesty!

I like you in color as well. Black is so harsh on light skin (mine anyway) Charcoals and Chocolatey Browns are more gentle, but I'm a sucker for a jeweltone.

    need some brutal honesty!

I'm voting for dress number two, but if you want something new, why not make a halter dress simmilar to the second one in the fabric of your choice

    slippery floors....a modern phenomenon?

Alas, I can only offer a bit of commiseration. I worked at a company that required, as its dress code, that women wear skirts and stockings. Which was fine, except that the floors went from carpet to tile in two places... it was a nightmare waiting to happen. It was OK in the supply room...

    Quick! Hair Crisis

So I am among the lucky few (million) with a 777 wedding to attend tomorrow and, alas, I only found the dress yesterday. It's a cute Jackie Kennedy style dress - princess cut, high boat neck...even a little audrey hepburn. The hair, when i bought it, it never occured to me might be an issue...

    Flat Iron Curls

That tutorial is not at all how i did it. Sorry for the delayed response. I've been a bit busy over the past few days but, this weekend, i'll give it a shot again and try to take some pictures. Be warned, however, my hair is extremely short right now (at my chin) and the curls take it up...

    Flat Iron Curls

This past weekend, I chopped all my hair off (almost 16 inches!), leaving me with a little chin lenght bob and some side bangs. Once upon a time, with my mile long hair, i tried to curl with my flat iron and failed. The curls fell flat and turned out more like "oops i forgot to blow dry" than...

    Hair gloss

Vavoom used to make the best shine serum I have ever had the fortune of using. Unfortunately, it was discontinued several years ago due to lack of sales. If anyone is familliar with it or comes across any that works as well without making your hair greasy, please let me know. I favor a...

Windy Weather, skirts and dresses [huh]

Personally, it's half of the fun. My office has a policy that requires all female employees to wear skirts to work. They're not specific as to the length or style - just that they be withing the realm of reason, so I've recently had a lot of experiences with spring breezes and the hemlines...

    Permanent Make-up?

there are problems with permanent make-up. First off, if you're suceptable to allergies, you'll know that most allergies can become graded allergies - i.e., they get worse with exposure - and, as a lot of ink contains nickle and cobalt, people can develop severe allergies to both. I would...

    Concealing eyebrows...

For quick application and quick removal, I used to use theatrical prosthesis. I worked a haunted house and we had more than one character that required false or removed eyebrows. We would use spirt gum to attach a piece of smooth, rubber "false skin" (thus keeping the adhesive away from...

    How popular was/is your name?

Kay, not my given name, but the one by which i've gone for many years, means Rejoice and reached it's height in popularity in the 40's - go figure :)

To wax or not to wax ????

I have so many allergies to so many things that I really just find it easier when i know what goes into something. I know what i'm NOT allergic to (strangely, it's easier than to list what I AM allergic to because there is always something new) so when something like body sugaring comes along...
