    Underage drinking

Years ago and in another part of the world, I saw the best cautionary ad ever: it showed a handsome young man in bed with his head in his hands, crestfallen; and a pretty woman was lying next to him ... glaring. The ad's title said "Overconsumption of alcohol causes IMPOTENCE". What an...

    Glamorous Men?

:eusa_clap Slick, man ... and you even brought it back to the original topic. :) One of these days, a very wise moderator will create a new section in this joint and call it "The Tool Shed", "The Saloon", or something. It'll be the Powder Room's glamourless, affable brother.

"The Powder Keg"? You wag! Not to mention "The Obfuscation Bar".

    The Cap Faction

Baron, I've gotten more compliments on this cap of yours than I have on any other. People just 'flip out' over it. I've worn it nearly every day for a week, and love to show off its fantastic liner logo. So .... thank you!!

    Spear point collar shirts

Yes. That combination was fairly common in the late '20s and '30s. Even tuxedo shirts were made with spear point collars. The one below is from 1936:

    Glamorous Men?

So does this mean that LizzieMaine is now okay with men posting in that *other* thread in the Powder Room? No? Oh. Ah, but maybe if we men use tiny letters and tiptoe back out, Lizzie might not notice. No? Oh.

    This generation of kids...

Nope. And no Frank "Junior" Coghlans onscreen, either. (Remember the 1933-'34 "Frolics of Youth" educational series? Me neither, but they're still worth watching.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6fBlW_5YmI

    Glamorous Men?

Yes. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Gerald and Sara Murphy. Gable and Lombard.

    Glamorous Men?

The first time I saw "glamorous" used to define a man was several days ago, in a thread in the Powder Room: It surprised me, and got me thinking: can men be "glamorous"? Clearly, Lolly_Loisides thinks so. But how?

    Vintage Workwear

It's not. The seller misidentified it.

    Glamorous Men?

Agreed. Glamour and effeminacy are not necessary conditions for each other, but they're not mutually exclusive either. I think that glamour means 'larger than life'. There are men and women who take nearly everything they do a step further and succeed at it. They seem to gravitate toward...

    The Cap Faction

Good observation. 'Mister Freedom' makes its cap visors horizontally straight. Mando probably purposely curved his cap's visor, and doing so caused the wrinkling of the fabric. As you say, fusible interfacing and stitching would have prevented the wrinkling.

    The Cap Faction

Here's Mando Dorame (from Royal Crown Revue) at a party last night, wearing a cap that seems to be from 'Mister Freedom'. Would you agree?
