Vintage Silhouettes Custom Hats - Official Affiliate Thread

Thanks all. I felt that Blue Smoke would be adaptable, for lack of a better way of putting it. I can dress up or down with it. I was really happy with the contrast between the bluish-grey of the hat, and the rusty-copper of the ribbon. Not sure if it's technically copper or not. I like a...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Cable Car Clothiers bought Robert Kirk Ltd. in 1972. There's not a whole lot of information on the company prior to that. I know Robert Kirk Limited was founded by Wendel Kerth Nicolaus and Robert Kirk Underhill in 1939. They specialized in British haberdashery-type stuff. That's about all I...

Right on! The label inside the hat says San Francisco. It always makes me think of Dashiell Hammett or something along those lines. It also makes me think of Jimmy Stewart in Vertigo.

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Bound Edge or Raw? What do you guys prefer? I've been inclined to think a bound edge brim is generally more dressy, but do you feel a raw edge fedora can have the same type of vibe? To my mind a raw edge often has a more rustic look, for lack of a better way of putting it. Do you guys agree...

    No love from MTV

I've always thought that a certain demographic's aversion to fedoras has to do with a lack of exposure to true style, worn with confidence and poise. Backlash against hats and those who wear them is typically exhibited by those who've never seen a good one worn well.

Is anyone familiar with the old Robert Kirk brand?

I'm speaking of prior to Robert Kirk Ltd. being bought by Cable Car Clothiers, which was I believe in 1972. I ask because I've got a very cool Robert Kirk fedora, which does not have the Cable Car name anywhere in it, so I assume it predates Cable Car. That, and the simple fact that it's a...
