Looking to buy an A-2 jacket, opinions...

I agree, it looks very nice, congrats. Just wait until it slowly molds into your body shape, making it truly yours.

What do you do for Living?

Cool thread. My name's Emmanuel, I'm a registered nurse working in psychiatry. I spent most of my days with patients suffering from bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, paranoïa and melancholy. Psychotics. I'm living in France, was born near Versailles but moved to Bordeaux for my work. I'm married...

Looking to buy an A-2 jacket, opinions...

I agree about the Cooper A2 recommendation. I have one in goatskin which I've owned for more than a decade, it's one of the sturdiest jackets I've ever seen. It's not a repro but at least doesn't have any hand-warmer pockets. You can get them for cheap on eBay and they'll last you a lifetime...

WW1 soldier's bedroom in France frozen in time for 100 years

Here is an interesting "time machine" story which came up a few months ago: Hubert Rochereau was a young Dragoons officer who got killed like millions of his countrymen during the first world war. His parents were so grief stricken they decided to make sure his room would be preserved, for...

Mendelboaz, thank you my friend so much for these great tips & recommendations! You're very helpful. I'm going to check those brands out.

    Show us your motorcycles!

Thanks! It's the archetypal post-war French motorcycle, intended for the working class. Nothing luxurious about it, but it does have good looks, I agree!

Nice! Do you have pictures showing the whole bike?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I know what you mean. I'm a nurse, been working homecare and hospice for years (I now work in psychiatry) and I've seen hundreds of cancer patients suffer horrible pains, people I personally cared for and saw literally die in my arms. To imply that cancer could be considered some sort of...

    Aero Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide

I thought so too. It's more like a mahogany red. I'm Pleasantly surprised!

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I don't call that kind of comment "trivial". IMO, you should expect to get hit when you say stuff like that. Where has decency gone?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I hate it when I sell something on eBay and the buyer doesn't pay right away, without sending me a message about when he's going to pay me. How rude!

    Aero Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide

Thanks! The cherry color is a lot like that in reality: What would be your recommendations for a hat to go with this jacket?

    Aero Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide

Thanks guys, it makes me feel good about my purchase. High quality shirts are on my list, but I'm still trying to figure out the best quality/price ratio out there.

    Aero Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide

Thanks! It feels great, the fit is tight indeed but not too snug. I can't layer much but it isn't skin tight. I'm hooked indeed but this will be my last before a long time.

    Aero Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide

OK, I bought another jacket on Ebay! Aaargh! :eeek: I just couldn't resist. I was so pleased with the quality of my Aero A2, that I immediately put things on sale to finance another one. My stuff got sold quicker than expected so I snagged this nice Highwayman in Cherry Steerhide, which is not...

    The wrist watch.

I have a nice Hamilton watch that needs repair. The watches I wear most of the time are an old Tissot (manual wind) and a LIP Himalaya (automatic)

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Two weeks ago we were having dinner with my parents, my father offered to drink a bottle of 1968 Chateau Mouton Rothschild (he's got quite a nice collection of vintage wines). But I told him, "hold on"! let me google the price of such a bottle... It was selling for $300 regularly. We agreed on...

Thanks! I'm not done with the stereo yet, though. I'm working on hiding the cables. :)

    Show us your Guns!

Until the invention of the Minié ball in the 1840s, Muzzle-loading rifles were a pain in the butt to reload compared to smoothbores. The bullet rammed down the bore was oversized (remember lead is a soft metal) so that it could deform & take the shape of the grooves in order to achieve stability...
