Is there a way to safely soften vintage stiff leather jackets?

I was wondering if there is a way to soften a vintage leather jacket (horsehide or steerhide) that is both effective and safe for the hide. Sometimes vintage jackets are stiff and being able to soften them a bit would make the wearing much more comfortable. Any experience or idea? Thanks

Just bought a 1963 Irvin Foster G-1 jacket

Hi, the work was done by a lady not far from me that makes repairs of leather motorcycle jackets, I brought everything to her and she did all the work (zipper, cuffs replacement etc). She is not perfect but good enough for the job I needed. But I am in Italy.

Vintage Lacoste polo appreciation and trying to date them by labels

Anyone who owned a vintage Lacoste polo knows that quality wise the "modern" ones aren't comparable to the old ones. For vintage I mean when they were still made in France. I know that recently they launched a new "made in france" line but this is another story and they don't make the classic...

Hints for dating vintage Rayban sunglasses?

Can anyone share details that help to date vintage Rayban sunglasses? It seems there is not much infos on the web. For vintage I mean before 1998 when Luxottica bought B&L/Rayban, as I don't think that they are not "real" Rayban after. I refer mainly to the Aviator, Outdoorsman and Shooter...

USAF N-3B parkas - Let's talk about them!!

Hi, I just bought this vintage n-3B that should arrive in a couple of days. Even though it seems in good conditions I would like to clean/wash it before wearing it. I am not sure about dry-cleaning fearing to damage the fur and the roundel logo, but I am not sure that washing it in water is a...

Help with dating and identifying a jacket

I agree that it is a bit different, most Lesco had one more diagonal pocket on left breast. From the zippers is it possible to approximately date it?

Help with dating and identifying a jacket

Hi, anyone can help in dating and identifying this jacket? No label inside (maybe lost) only the care label remains that indicates as manufacturer Tripp NYC, a brand unknown to me and surely not high quality, brass scovill zippers and buttons. Maybe from the 70s? Do you think it's horsehide or...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

This is a couriers broker that I used a couple of times to ship from USA to Italy, prices are very low compared to "normal" courier rates and often also lower that USPS but much faster, it's worth to check it out: https://www.ipsparcel.com/quote.cfm?

    40s-50s Woolrich Mackinaw button

I just bought a vintage Woolrich Mackinaw in very good conditions for its age, from the label it seems to be from late 40s to early 50s. No worn-out wool even on friction prone parts. There is some small repair to do but nothing important. The worst thing is a missing button (bakelite?) on one...

Wesco Mister Lou engineer boots: fit/sizing?

Well, I actually wore them very little for the restrictions we had here in Italy, so no broken in yet. Once on I feel my feet comfortable but it's still a bit complicated to put and remove them. It depends also if your feet is narrow or fat (mine is rather narrow). Or you can buy a size up and...
