My European Hat Buying Adventure - Video

Ok.... I had to brag about my recent hat purchases on our trip from Portland to Chicago to NYC and then all over Europe. Most all of my friends could care less about my new hats but I thought this group might be interested. So I whipped together a video.

Anybody try to shape a brim using Hatshapers.Com

Got the Hatshaper today. Struggled with how to do the brim. I could (and may still try) using an iron on cloth on brim. But what I did is steamed that hat brim for a while. Then I put the hat on the mold and used masking tape to hold the brim edge down. I was concerned about the masking...

Anybody try to shape a brim using Hatshapers.Com

I did not get any answers with a previous post. Which may mean the answer is no. But One last try and this time with a picture. On Saturday I have one of these coming but with an open crown. This is one piece. There is not separate crown block and brim flange. Both are together. The...

Anyone ever use a plastic hat shaper from hatshapers.com?

Thanks for the reply, they do make a brim flange but its integral to the crown block, I think. So you have to form the brim in the opposite direction than a normal flange. In a normal brim flange that hat fits in upside-down and the brim flange is curved in the direction of the final brim...

Ask a question, get an answer

I got an eBay Borsalino that I believe is a pocket hat with the smallish coffin-like box. After some steaming and blocking and hand work its looking pretty good. But there is one odd thing. Odd for me anyway. The brim on this hat is very thin and has almost a plastic structural feel to it...
