    A DARING AKUBRA

Have any of you seen the TV series "Bush Tucker Man" with the man who made the hat famous in Australia, Les Hiddens? A good outback show. I've never seen anyone wear one of these hats in person, but I didn't think it looked bad on Les.

    HAT SIZE 7.5 ANYONE?

What was it that Daniel Dravot said? "Him there with the five and a half hat size has the makings of a bloody hero." Me, I'm a 7 1/2, and the above was the first good thing I've read about having a big head.

How do you take your coffee?

I guess I'm a early riser, I have my black coffee at 6:15 am. I like an Italian roast or Kenyan which I grind just before I add hot water off the boil. I make this in a small stainless steel jug and then strain it into my cup.

Who loves the music of Force's sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn?

I remember Vera Lynn and her song stands alone as the most popular song during WW2. My mum and dad were married during WW2 and there favourite song was Harbour Lights. I believe she tours sometimes in Australia. I meant most popular in Commonwealth countries.

    Enjoying a cup of tea

The tea most likely to be served in 'Westernised' hotels in India, Pakistan and Kashmir (oh, to go back to Shrinagar!) is Liptons. Whilst I stayed in a 'westernized' hotel in Bengal India, the tea was definitely not Liptons. The closest tea I have had that approached the taste of Windamere...

Desert Rats I saw this film many years ago and enjoyed it very much, I don't think you would be dissapointed. Although they were not British they were Australian, their gear would suit desert areas.
