    Blades for Brim Trimmer?

I recently found one of these brim trimmers on EBay, and now that it has arrived, the blade looks like it needs to be replaced. Anyone have any idea where I might find a replacement blade? I did not take a photo of the blade when I had it apart, but it's an odd shaped single-sided razor blade...

    Vintage shrinkage

Okay - say you are eyeballing a beautiful vintage hat on EBay... IS there anyway, to know how much shrinkage may have occurred in the hat - short of putting it on your noggin - or entrusting a tricky measuring job to the seller ? (who may or may not know how to get an accurate...

SOLD: 'Hurley' 7 1/4 vintage tan fur felt fedora

This was an Ebay purchase that I received just today. It doesn't fit me, so I am putting it up for sale immediately (so I can continue my quest for the perfect lid on OFAS!). Brand seems to be a proprietary house brand: "Hurley," made expressly for Davidson's Men's Wear in Cleveland. The...

FS: Akubra Stylemaster, size 59 in mid-gray

I mentioned recently in another thread that I have been thinking that this shade of gray is a bit too dark for my taste, so I am offering the hat for sale. Essentially brand new from Everything Australian, I have worn it out of the house only twice. I've slightly tightened the front pinch...

Reshaping the brim on a wool hat

I have a wool outback-style hat (Scala/Dorfman) that I wore as my beater hat for the summer. It was the lid I grabbed as I would head out to the garden or to mow the lawn, and eventually it became drenched with sweat, sunblock and dirt. Of course, it became increasingly misshapen, as well, and...

    FS: Dobbs 7 1/4 'Jet 707' fedora

Before I post this on Ebay, I thought I would offer it here on the FL. It's a medium gray Dobbs fedora in good condition. With a brim width of 1 7/8", I've decided it's a bit too stingy a look for me. The black ribbon is a 1 3/4" wide. The hat came with center crease that I easily rebashed...

Do hats really need a liner?

Is there any reason NOT to remove the liner from my Akubra Angler that I wear out in the sun when I am painting? Not having much hair on top, I am finding that my sweaty dome sticks to the plastic on the crown of the hat's liner. Then the liner nearly pops out inside-out when I take the hat...

FS: Akubra Cattleman, size 58, dark brown

I bought a used Akubra Cattleman on EBay earlier this spring. It was used, but in excellent shape. I wore it a few times, until I saw a photo of myself wearing the hat and realized that the 3 1/4" brim is way too wide for my head! I look goofy in it. But it would be a great field hat for...

    Cleaning an old ribbon?

Okay, so you get a nice old hat on EBay. The dust on the felt comes off with a hat brush. Easy. But how do you clean off the ribbon - if not all the dust comes off with the brush? Can you damp wipe it? Sponge? Damp paper towel? Any advice will be appreciated! Jim

Does Hat with Moth Damage have value?

Hi everyone, newbie here. I've been lurking here for awhile and have learned loads from you all. Thanks. Now I need a bit of advice: I purchased a vintage Stetson fedora last week on EBay. Perhaps some of you helped get the bidding up (!). Here is the link...
