    Leather treatment and expectations

Beautiful, that's the kind of wear you want. Nothing to worry about but if you do want to use some product on it I'd give it a very thin coat of Obenaufs.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

WHY are you trying to reinvent the wheel? Darts on a sleeve are a very bad idea in the context of leather jackets. The elbow is a point of stress, it bends and therefore stretches constantly. Putting darts at that point will introduce weak spots in a place that needs to be strong and flexible...

    Five Star Leather Jackets

Imo, when it comes to their civilian styles 5* is a huge waste of money and resources. What's their hit rate, 1 out of 10 jackets looks and fit ok-ish? That's a $3500 investment for a mediocre jacket at best. Resale value is negligible. People are better off buying new, second hand or vintage...

    Vintage Schott-Beck Motorcycle Jackets

After a long discussion with @jeo and closer inspection in daylight I have come to the conclusion that it was false alarm on the Sierra having pleather parts. On closeup you can clearly see the natural fibers. It probably feels and looks like plastic because it's heavily corrected leather with...

    Vintage Schott-Beck Motorcycle Jackets

Schott wasn't the only manufacturer using pleather parts... Buco j24L All leather except for one sleeve gusset. '50s Sierra. The right side lapel and epaulet are made out of pleather. Note the back side of the epaulet which is smooth instead of fuzzy. Meanwhile the part that needs to be...

Can someone post pictures of a dry (but not cracked) leather jacket that needs conditioner vs one that does not need it?

I don't think that's necessary true. Pores become visible when leather is sanded down / corrected.

    Vintage Schott-Beck Motorcycle Jackets

Here's another Schott with pleather parts. The inside hem looks to be in good condition, one of the sleeve gussets not so much.

    Vintage Schott-Beck Motorcycle Jackets

Today we think of pleather as cheaping out. Back then it was sold as the hard wearing alternative to leather.

Lol you think $520 is overpriced for a '30s brown Starglove in mint condition?! That thing is worth about $2.5K, probably more. Here's the original listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/1455040927...qkltxehtou&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Do you know the differences between full aniline and pigment dyed leather?
