Hey all.
I've just found a quite nice pea coat which I looked long and hard for and wondered if any of you could help with id etc.
I bought it online from back east in Canada but the owner knew little about it, and I'd like to know if it's Canadian or US and if it's approximate date can be...
Would like to buy or trade for a size 71/8 eight-panel medium-full cap in brown, blue or green tweed wool, with lining, heavier fabric the better.
Also need the above cap in fairly stiff canvas or linen, in kahki.
Pls. pm me if you have anything like that you're willing to let go.
Cheers.
Ever have a question that you can't put into words?
I have about half a dozen shoulder bags of various sized and styles and quite a few rucksacks and day packs, etc.
I really like shoulder bags for their convenience and get-at-ability.
Trouble is, they always seem too small or too big...
Sorry to my mates down under, hope I've called them the right name, but I'm talking about the type of boots like my Blundstones with the elastic sides and ankle high.
Is there a proper generic name for this type of shoe?
When did they first come on the scene, who wore them in days of old...
A while back on here somewhere I mentioned that I was going to order a Thunderbird butane insert for my old Zippo, because the gasoline fumes spoiled my smoke.
I got it a couple of days ago, and just wanted to report that it works really great. Gives my the best of both worlds. If, like me...
Hey all, as the weather gets colder, it's time to break out the gloves. Lately I've been wearing my new G1 under a generously cut over coat and it works great, should be all I need for the majority of the winter. But I'd like to ask if gloves generally should be worn tucked under the ribbing of...
I was out for a walk today. The temperature was in the high thirties. I was wearing an A shirt, t shirt, light cotton dress shirt and my 1990 Cooper G1. I was warm.
What is it about goat skin that accomplishes this feat without any insulation? I was rather pleasantly surprised and somewhat...
Buyer backed out, still available.
For sale is an unused Belstaff 554 Colonial shoulder bag. Old style with the sewn-on buckles. Khaki. Currently there are two on the 'bay for $550, so I feel justified in trying this at $375 shipped to Canada or US, Europe or way down South, a bit more. If...
Hey, the guy I get my pipes from is advertising a butane lighter called the Thunderbird made by a company called Vector. They are specifically meant for cigars and pipes and they look exactly like a Zippo and the insert will fit a real Zippo case. They are very inexpensive, but advertised as...
Saw "Viva Zapata" last nite with Marlon Brando. First time I'd seen it and I'm wondering how I missed this one. Great flick, my favorite Brando role, probably my favorite Oater until Tombstone and Dances. If you haven't seen it, you'll really dig it.
Got a crack at a Belstaff Colonial 556 shoulder bag. Unused, the guy wants $250. Real nice bag, but I've already got about a dozen other shoulder bags in canvas and leather. Is this thing worth this kind of money?
Hi All. I recently bought a NOS Samsung NV10 camera. 10 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, lots of digital zoom, Schneider-Kreuznach lens. These sold for around $300 when new in '06. I got about a dozen pics with it, then I tried a shot down a creek with the sun coming up and I fried something so the...
Grouse season opens here on Friday and was thinking of wearing my Barbour Beaufort I got last Spring, but today I noticed that the game bag seems to be a rubberized nylon. This time of year things are relatively warm and I'm wondering if the lack of breathability of the game bag so constructed...
I recently acquired a neat old Bulova wrist watch. I have used pocket watches since I was a LOT younger.
I remember my parents telling me that a gentleman in a business setting or out for the evening should wear a leather band, but I can't remember if they stipulated it should be black or...
I've had a look around the net and cannot find a reference to identify a vase I saw in an antique store today. I am possibly interested in buying it, and seem to vaguely remember this mark, but am at a loss.
The piece has an arts and crafts or even perhaps early Deco look with an aqua colored...
Since we don't have a feedback section on FL, I just wanted to say here that I recently bought a nice old Bulova watch from Undertaker, and it arrived very well packed, turned out to be a really great watch, VERY reasonably priced. Anyone should know that he is a fine seller in all ways.
Hey, do any of you use your leather jackets as rain gear? I've got a nice Barbour Beaufort rain coat that mostly sits in the closet because I find that my A2 works just as well and I like the short length better. I've gotten it soaked while keeping me dry inside and it doesn't seem to mind this...
Well it seems you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. I was in a tack shop down in the big city a week ago and bought, on a whim, a Mexican-made straw western for the princely sum of $25.
After a long soak, I popped out the crown and turned down the 4" brim. When it dried I used a dark orange...
